Happy little queer thing who gives rocks novel ideas of how to hate themselves. Aspiring writer and storyteller. Likes pest animals a bit much.

Go on, ask me about GURPS.
Okay. Started my fifth draft a few days ago. To the point where my generated PDF of draft four is actually viable to use as I do basically a ground-up rewrite, mostly focused on working in the threads I added in later on in the last draft so that they're not out of nowhere.

There was a time when there was a “ruins boom” in Japan. Bookstores were filled with related photo collections, and I remember buying some myself. Ruins somehow evoke scenes from the past, and I find their decaying appearance appealing.

My husband collects rocks.

Today, we got a really gorgeous sample of malachite, from Zambia.

Some of you may already know where this is going.

You know what else is near the copper mines in Zambia? Uranium deposits.

It's (very mildly, I promise) radioactive malachite.

I'm now really wondering what the venn diagrams of "AI is the future of creativity"/"AI has no place in creativity" vs "I shop at Amazon"/"I buy from my local indie bookstore" looks like.

So far this year I've read 5 books. That won't be impressive to the people who set a goal to read 100 books in a day or whatever but I PERSONALLY am reading a lot more than I have in a while and I'm quite pleased with that. #booksky

"AI levels the playing field!"

Why should the playing field be leveled between the literary equivalent of "ideas guys" and people who have sat down day after day and actually put in the work to create something worth caring about?

Please. Someone, anyone, explain this to me.

So my daily goal is 1k words per day.

I was not expecting to spend multiple days in a row writing about the process of making goddess-damned linguine. Yet, here I am, days later, 3k words in, still not done rolling out the pasta dough.

I'm not sure if I need to request assistance or not.

A fun fact for fantasy writers.

Orichalcum is just good quality brass.

Fifteen-plus years later, I just realized that my English professor, who did a whole semester of the literature, aesthetics, and rhetoric of fascism, was exactly the sort who saw the writing on the wall and was trying to prepare us.

First draft is now complete-ish. Ready for another pass in a few weeks because I need to break it up differently, I need to drastically alter some structure stuff, all of it. But it's ready for that work to start, so I'm good with it.

So GURPS has some pretty wild dependency chains for magic, and I sat here for a long time figuring out how many spells you have to have to have for certain spells to become available.

Turns out the answer is Move Terrain, and it's listed in the book.

40k on one draft now. This coming along okay, I think. I’m very lucky to have a supportive husband who gives great feedback, so I know where to focus from here, too.

I'm, um, I'm writing a novel about a good necromancer and the one who's supposed to be hunting her.

It started off as a joke about "what would a good necromancer like instead of crows? Blue jays?" and then "I would love it if I got cupcakes from the people who I've lost when big things happened."
Oh right, pride month

Hi my dear queer creative kin. Please quote post this and share what you're working on. I'd love to know about your art and writing and crafts and music and games. 💞

We were talking about where the nearest Waffle House is, and I'm now desperately trying to figure out what the plot would be for a sci-fi movie called "Edge of Ohio".

Everyone thinks Annie Oakley was cool because she was a great show shooter, but you really should go read the Wikipedia article. An absolutely incredible life that goes so far beyond Buffalo Bill's Wild West.
