A 2-year old US Citizen was deported Friday to Honduras.

“The judge on Friday scheduled a hearing for May 16, which he said was ‘in the interest of dispelling our strong suspicion that the Government just deported a U.S. citizen with no meaningful process.’”

I’m getting married in Edinburgh in less than two months and gosh I’m glad we picked our favorite city for our favorite day 💙

My credit card sent me a year in review and frankly, this should be illegal. I don’t need to know how much I spent on ice cream, thank you very much.

My absolute favorite part of my job as a lawyer is the ability to spoil people I love. College roommate has a baby registry? Time to pull out the credit card!!

If you inherently trusted Justin Baldoni when the ENTIRE CAST unfollowed him and the author of the book wouldn’t mention him, you might wanna do some soul searching 🙃

If the Depp-Heard fiasco didn't, the Blake Lively smear campaign should drive home an important media literacy lesson that I'm afraid many are missing: when it seems like everybody is suddenly talking about something, consider the possibility that the viral moment was engineered.

So one of the things that is repeatedly showing up in response to this post is people saying things like “but don’t you realize history is misogynist” and look, there was a lot of misogyny in history, but there is even more misogyny in viewing history as a simple and easy monolith.
I’ve tried not to talk too much about Game of Thrones because people loved it and I don’t want to finger-wag, etc, but my problem with that series has always been its bone-deep misogyny.

Misogyny that ruined the show even for people who loved it!

My wedding venue in Scotland just posted that they have adopted two very fluffy cows, who will be available for petting at all future events. I am (rightly) about to be upstaged.

I’m a fourth year associate at a Big Law firm, and just also want to add - If your bosses aren’t taking any holidays (or respecting yours), it’s not going to get better. The difference between me and my friends who have left big law (often) is hugely dependent on our partners.
Good thread on holidays and office life. Obvi YMMV and every office is different but my two keys here:
1) whatever your view of face time, don’t focus on face time when no one can se it!
2) take the break/take the holiday —and if you can’t there better be a good reason or maybe it’s the wrong spot.
I'll give it a shot.

Background on me (that will leave me anon): I've been in practice for 10-20 yrs; bounced between BigLaw, clerkships, and in-house (but won't tell you where I am now).

The topic for this short thread: Holidays as a 1st & 2nd year associate in BigLaw. /1

Archaeologist: we’ll need a social history of cups, as well as a project charting the perception of their fullness, both geographically and through time, to better understand the social meaning of the cup.

It’s been almost five years since the pandemic slammed the borders shut between us. It is such a blessing to be here, together, in a home with both our names on the lease.

I’ve been living in London for a little over a year and I have, through osmosis, finally forced my fiancé to have a definitive and unyielding opinion on who should win the Great British Bakeoff. Life is good.

Me, working at a corporate law firm: Oh I spent a lot of time designing my Tumblr in high school.

I miss what law Twitter use to be like and I hope that comes over here! Since it started dying over there, I moved to England, got engaged, and have become pretty happy in global sanctions and business/human rights law. I want the lil legal community back to talk about this stuff with!!

I am trying to read more books about what I do (trade law) but the thing about this election is that means I should probably read certain Likely Cabinet Officials books…but god I don’t want to give them my $12.99.

Oh, man. I really liked the other place. I was there at sixteen, before I knew how to be embarrassed online. How do we start this as adults who don’t just talk about YA novels and our college roommates?
