Just somebody that you used to know.
Now even roundabouts can be woke!

That’s intersectionality alright.

Not the biggest issue going around, but marking the start of the AFL season by saying it is a disgrace that people who can't afford pay TV or an expensive streaming service are locked out of watching games on Saturday this year.

I knew this would happen, but it's still surreal to hear another nation's leader talk to us in a televised address the way US presidents have historically spoken to the citizens of countries led by dictators and despots.
Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."

Suspect this won’t hurt Mr Cook’s chances at the ballot box!

I keep thinking back to the opening of each @fallofcivspod.bsky.social episode where Paul Cooper asks “what did it feel like to be a person alive at the time who witnessed the end of their world?”

Maybe it felt like this?
Empires fall, they always have. But I don’t know that an empire has ever fallen because the ruler decided that actually he hates all the vassal states and would rather they fend for themselves.

Of all the things to criticise Trump for, his physical appearance isn’t in the top 100.

That said — this does say something about his narcissism and vanity.
Look at the make up on the Oaf. He looks like he’s been deep fried in batter.

That sure is a ‘unique’ flavour option.

I’ve also seen a fair bit of reporting about the prospect of a hung parliament and the various independent candidates (4 Corners).

Still, yes… horse-race-ism pervades.
The media has focused more on polling in the past 2 days than it has on policy for the entire past 3 years.

Journalists get incredibly excited about the horse race.

Means they don't have to do any work.

“Jewish people have identities separate from the state of Israel…”

Resharing this piece by @sarahschwartz.bsky.social and @maxyka.bsky.social as debate about dramatically widening the the definition of anti-Semitiam is again in the headlines.
As Jews, we don’t accept that criticism of Israel’s government is antisemitic
The word “antisemitism” is being exploited by the pro-Israel lobby to silence criticism of the Israeli government’s bombing of civilians in Gaza.
