In a functioning society, this would have been front page news everywhere.

In our society, this didn't make the fine print.

As @georgemonbiot.bsky.social pointed out once, it's quite depressing to check the headlines when you know what the real headline should be...

Canberrans are stepping up to help wombats that are under threat from mange - a cruel disease devastating populations.

This community-led program is giving volunteers the tools to treat and protect wombats in the ACT.

Great to see this grassroots conservation 👏

New 'micro-volunteering' plan helps treat wombats with mange
Many people don't want to become long-term volunteers, Yolandi Vermaak realised. So she came up with a new system to allow people to get involved and save the wombats.

On our 1 acre we make branch offcut heaps and let our native grasses grow long for our resident Northern Brown Bandicoots to live. The neighbours hate it! They mow theirs flat. In the long frost cured grass you can see tunnel entries from frequent use. #southerndownsqld #wildoz got cameras finally!

Power is a zero-sum game.

Democracy vs Autocracy.

As Trump seizes more power - that power is at the expense of America and American democracy.

Editors and journalists need to make this clear.
