Great nights ticking round South London. My first ever visit to the famed Blythe Hill Tavern, what a pub. Then Bermondsey for Anspach & Hobday’s Arch House before ending in Kernel’s magnificent new tap room. Amazing what they’ve done with the space.

Laser-sharp rebuke of previous gov'ts on #Brexit and trade, down by most measures, from Douglas Alexander.

Just in from mammoth interview session to two bits of news. One that a DV perp got locked up because of something I did and that a vulnerable constituent had a a massive wrongful debt written off after our intervention. This is why I came to politics, this is why I'll just keep cracking on.

It's been snowing in the UK and the road gritters are out in force, begging the question:
Have you ever wondered where that grit actually COMES from?
The answer is more magical, beautiful and fascinating than you probably realised.

Glorious day for the family Boxing Day walk in Hartlepool yesterday. Just a shame Pools were away at Gateshead so no match to follow up.

The annual London Alty Christmas curry at Tayaabs. King of all London curry houses. Utterly sensational lamb chops & the famous dry meat. Perfection.

Fantastic win for @altrinchamfc.bsky.social in the Cheshire derby this afternoon vs Robbie Savage’s ill disciplined Macc. Worst conditions I’ve seen at the match for ages but in the hat is the main thing.

I went to Port Vale to spend time with Carol Shanahan, who is one of the most fascinating club owners in England.

She doesn’t like a lot of what she sees in football. We spoke hot meals, fan funerals and monopoly.
