❤️ toffee crisps. ❤️ the NHS.
I don't usually watch cookery programmes, but caught this yesterday morning and it set me up perfectly for the day - had me giggling for ages; particularly because nobody really knew what to do with him 🤣🤣

"It [the Institute for Government] criticises the health secretary’s decision to abolish NHS England as a rushed, poorly explained distraction, calling it “a case study in how not to make complex policy decisions and announcements”."

It's almost like there are leadership issues at the very top of the hierarchy, along with a complete lack of insight into the impact they're having on individuals & services. That, plus their inability to see the value of their staff..I wonder if Wes has actually read last year's Darzi report 🤔

My NHS employer has just confirmed redundancies are coming. For the second time in my 16 year NHS career tens of thousands of NHS staff, many with decades of experience will be thrown on the scrap heap. Many worked on the frontline (including me) in the pandemic. This is Streeting's reward for us.

"During the response to Hurricane Mitch, which struck Honduras in 1998, a plane carrying aid was unable to land due to bales of unusable clothing blocking the runway."
Sharing this a lot tonight - donated items in disaster only make things worse (pretty much without exception and anywhere in the world). There is a long history of this going very wrong particularly after hurricanes www.theguardian.com/books/2023/m...

What a telling article... "Politics is increasingly financed by the wealthy. Parties compete for donors, not for voters."

And the visual representation of wealth distribution in the chart (from within the article) highlights just how bonkers the world really is!!

I've been swayed towards JC for years, but I have to say this fella @zackpolanski.bsky.social is speaking strongly of all of the things on my mind about the UK and further afield too...he's definitely drawing my attention! 💚
Please help combat BBC news blackout of Green Party!
@zackpolanski.bsky.social was the only party leader not interviewed by Laura Kuenssberg during their party conference.
So please RT his cracking conference speech..
Whatever your party politics, @zackpolanski.bsky.social leaders speech deserves to be heard..

The NHS 10 Year Plan: '...staff will be better treated, more motivated... The NHS will be not only the country's biggest employer but its best.'

I wonder when they're going to start treating staff better then 🤔

'Total bin fire' is a very apt way to describe their impact on some NHS staff so far.

Whatever the approach, there needs to be real care taken not to make sudden, ill-considered blanket changes which will cause further harm to already harmed patients and families.

Will scrapping NHS England help improve patient safety?
The decision to scrap the organisation could offer a new chance to examine how patients are dealt with.

Thousands of miles from your home where a war is waging, speaking in your second language, outnumbered, shouted down & without the gravitas wearing a suit apparently bestows you & you still look like the only dignified leader in the room.

That’s the kind of power bullies will never have.
