"Healthcare leadership is a particularly challenging task precisely because
the stakes cannot be higher – people rely on vital NHS services & there is seemingly unending complexity. & it requires leadership at every level of the
system & within & across all different staff groups."

I'm a bit sad that I'm becoming less clear about where he's heading/how he's getting there.
The Greens seem to know what they're all about though, and they're not shy about it - that's what we need!!

I confess my ignorance & despite having your book in our house for years, I knew of you more from your awful covid experience & subseqent responses to the ill-informed. I only made a connection when my child started watching clips of the sounds you make in poetry. He finds you hilarious & inspiring!

Today, I read that there are no plans to remove the flags in my local area. If I wasn't like Frank Spencer where ladders are concerned, I would climb up and write 'England welcomes you!' across every flag.

Truly awful and terrifying for families, and awful that there is such disparity. Shameful indeed, and with similar disparity evident in the UK too.

Same here with Blossoms - brilliant. And Stereophonics - always brilliant!
We were left side of the arena - utter carnage with toilets & food one side, bar the other, chairs in the middle & hundreds of people trying to navigate across minimal space. Queued for Guinness for Jake Bugg's entire set! 😅

We were indeed there, & said the very same! Ultimately, we were there for the music & the music was fab 🙂
Have seen Stereophonics before (a long time ago now, mind) but had never seen Blossoms & couldn't get over how good their music is, how much I recognised & what great performers they are! #gary

Not sure about capacity vs facilities yesterday, but absolutely agree Blossoms were unbelievably good, as were Stereophonics!! 🤩

..leaving inexperienced NHS leaders, which Darzi recently identified as one of the big challenges in the NHS.
Ironically, it all feels like it's being fairly poorly directed by inexperienced leaders, unaware of the impact they're having...seen it before at every level of the NHS & it's disheartening

Many ICB staff were preparing themselves for consultations to start, only for the consultations to be pulled at the last minute because it's not clear whose paying. There is a real risk that organisational knowledge & experience will be lost because people will tire of poor treatment & leave anyway.

I'm sad to find myself agreeing...I had such optimism for the NHS and everything in it to finally be supported properly...I realise now that what I was experiencing was actually naivety.

There are no doubt savings to make across NHSE & ICBs, but the way in which it's been approached is indiscriminate & questionable. No evidence of risk assessments on the impact to services. Plus the thousands whose jobs are at risk have been treated poorly & are still none the wiser months later.
Ministers admit failing to assess impact of thousands of NHS job cuts in England
Exclusive: Failure to assess impact of axing thousands of NHS managers described by critics as reckless

Aww but how could they have possibly known that coming up with a magic number of people to axe so they can save money might cost also cost money?
Not to worry - I'm sure their indiscriminate approach and lack of risk assessment of how services will be affected will definitely save pennies though.

I despise the Mail as a source and try to dodge reading anything it spews out, although I wonder if its raggedy front pages have recently also shared anyone's concern for their young people about 'white men in positions of power' and their attitudes to women?!
August 9, 2025 at 10:55 PM
It's mainly inquests I've seen and I always feel for bereaved families having to be in such a formal, anxiety-provoking environment, in which they deserve equally as much respect. Your approach is a more helpful way of looking at it though - respect for a process rather than a person, thank you.
May 11, 2025 at 12:39 PM
Why do some people get so upset about being kind?!
My thing is more that if we must do it, I'd prefer to rise if able out of respect for anyone who finds themselves in court because they've been harmed, rather than for the person with the snazziest chair...or maybe I'm missing the point 🤔
