The Trump admin now says nursing isn't a professional degree.

The admin plan to redefine what constitutes a professional degree to exclude nursing and limit access to student loans — outraging national health care groups and leaving nursing students questioning how they'll pay for graduate degrees.

Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth need to realize that while Trump has presidential immunity, they do not. Their federal immunity is at the discretion of whether or not Trump blanket pardons them on his way out of office, and they’re not immune from state or international prosecution.
WELKER: The DOJ said in a court filing that when the administration was ordered to stop sending migrants to El Salvador, you personally made the call to continue the flights anyway. Do you acknowledge that?

NOEM: We have court filings going on. I'll let them continue to play through that process

As carers, we give so much of ourselves. In the best of circumstances, we do so freely, happily. No matter our circumstances, we have limits of physical, emotional, and financial endurance. We owe ourselves grace.

I'm really glad to see someone like Kelly finally saying this. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Mark Kelly: "This president, when he says things like 'third world countries,' what is he really saying? I think what he's saying is he doesn't want brown people in our country. And that's disturbing. It's un-American."

just a reminder that *lots* of countries have universities, and (to my knowledge) none of them but the U.S. treat their universities as largely minor league sports franchises
LSU is paying its previous football coach over $50 million NOT to coach there while likely guaranteeing Kiffin something approaching double that, all while having an academic hiring freeze and budget cuts across the board. What is the purpose of a university (rhetorical)?
SOURCES: Lane Kiffin is expected to accept LSU's offer to become the Tigers next head coach. Kiffin is set to meet with his Ole Miss team this morning at 9 AM CT. As we reported yesterday morning, LSU has been very confident it was going to land Kiffin. www.nytimes.com/athletic/684...

Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

We NEED the Dept. of Education—no matter how much Republicans try to tell you otherwise.

Schools need funding. Students’ rights need to be protected. Teachers & parents need data to know how to help kids succeed.

But Trump & McMahon are breaking all of that to pieces.

Trickle-down economics was always a sham.

Nothing has ever trickled down.

He’s going to fight drug trafficking by pardoning them?

Trump announced “a Full and Complete Pardon” for former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández, who was found guilty by an American jury last year of conspiring to import cocaine into the US.

Immigrants commit fewer crimes.

Immigrants pay taxes.

Immigrants contribute over $2 trillion to the U.S. economy.

The problem isn't immigrants.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

Proposal to remove advanced nursing from list of ‘professional’ degrees is short-sighted and dangerous
At a time of major workforce shortages, why would the Department of Education make it harder for nurses to obtain advanced training?

I helped introduce a bill to fully repeal Republicans' cuts to SNAP—the largest cuts in history.

SNAP is an investment in people and a commitment we make that, in the richest country on earth, kids and families should not be forced to go hungry.
