Smokey variable blues with the darkest ones on the bottom half, though parts of the top half are also dark if not as dark, and similarly there are lighter sections in the bottom half too - though none as bright as some of the sections in the upper half. Always nice to see this again. I got six done in the end. Backdirt, Arsemuck, Bumgravy, Gutbroth, Scat and Turrdz. The Daily Mail did a bullet point scare job on me after the first three. My picture was pinned up behind the counter in Selfridges, and I still got the rest.

Christ, I was bored.

It's 30° in London and I hate this heat and I hate everyone who likes it. But dear God the amount of washing I'm getting out. Four loads already, lads. Washed and dried. The last one *bone dry* after 20mins on the line. My ancestors crying joyful tears in heaven. This must be what heroin feels like.

Here, before the world ends have a #painting. "Sunset, Enniscrone" came from countless trips to the Sligo seaside town where I've been lucky enough to see rather a lot of sunsets, usually while wondering what I'm doing with my life, falling in love, and other imaginary pastimes. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Bottom three-quarters is sea in black, dark blue and purple, coming in from right in long arcing waves. Along horizon is row of jagged dunes silhouetted in dark brown. A horizontal sliver of orange and yellow of a beach separates dunes from the sea. Behind dunes are hills and mountains receding in shades of orange. Sky at left end is a blazing tangerine, and the rest is a much paler yellow-orange with some slight lighter horizontal clouds. The sun itself is white, surrounded by bright yellow, and sitting on a mountain on the right, making a hazy kind of light on the near mountains and casting short horizontal yellow lines on water which as they get closer to the viewer are then punctuated by black strokes, as the yellow ones fanning out to a wider reach as they progress to the bottom of the painting. Beethoven and Barnett Freedman: watercolour from 2022
