I’ve been thinking about this in light of the repression happening in my home town of QC. Teachers and daycare workers can’t wear religious symbols, end of subsidies to private religious schools, but all public schools and daycares must teach about Christmas.
Strangely controversial opinion: Small Children who don’t celebrate Christmas should not be held responsible for maintaining the magic. They can’t be expected to understand that it’s ok to lie about Santa. Parents need to be prepared for kids being exposed to diverse beliefs and traditions.

On a video call with my brother:

Him: That sweatshirt looks familiar.

Me: That’s because it’s yours. I “borrowed” it from you when I was 9.

I’m 47 now.

I wonder what it will take for folks to understand how social media has completely altered mass communication. Public shaming of outrageous figures helps to widen their profile. Any attempt to silence, ban, or cancel someone gives them more power.

Aging is being reminded of the fragility of life every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. Eventually you no longer take for granted that you'll make it to the end of each day. I'm somehow expected to plan for a future that I may never see.

I sometimes wonder if I’m going there perimenopause. I don’t have all the typical symptoms. Then increasingly I’m done staying silent to avoid conflict. I’m a fully grown, middle-aged woman, and my opinion matters. I matter. It’s like repeated adolescence. And there it is - perimenopause.

I’m increasingly seeing smart people on the left, including friends I respect, spreading the conspiracy that Jews are responsible for 9/11. It goes beyond blaming Israel, which is also false, but there’s understandable confusion. The Mossad knew what the CIA knew.

We’re like two years out (or maybe less) before the newspapers start to publish op eds about how white men really ARE superior. This is ground clearing. First, you make it so no one can speak about racism. Next, you try to rationally defend racist ideas. Then you establish a norm racism is good.
According to WaPo’s termination letter my post referencing Kirk’s views on Black women was not even brought up.

The Post’s stated reasons are *worse*.
