I can now reveal my secrets!
I've been filming a show for Arte station in Europe ( due early 2026). They are supposed to be telling the story of the horse in Ireland, dabbling ( not very well) with myths and legend and then to medieval Norman conquest stuff, when knights were bold etc.

Those of you who teach history, classics, art history, archaeology, etc., especially of the ancient world: how much more likely are you to use numismatics in teaching due to digital resource accessibility than you were 10+ years ago? #classicsbluesky

A hoard of over 1900 #Roman silver coins found at Falkirk (Scotland); equivalent to 10+ years pay for an ordinary soldier. The coins range in date from 83BC to AD230, & may have been part of a bribe paid by Rome to a chieftain north of the frontier to secure peace for a while 🏺AncientBlueSky

Something wonderful for the weekend!

About 40,000 years ago, during the #IceAge, an ancient artist skilfully sculpted this tiny head of a cave lion from mammoth ivory. It is one of the World’s oldest known works of figurative art.
