For context that’s enough funding to pay to retain/employ 2 GPs per average practice, employ more nurses & support staff

Providing in excess of 100million more appts/year

12,000 for the average GP practice
45 extra/day

No one in leadership seems to get this

GP practices £/patient/year

Risen from £152.81 to £169.75

This includes all costs, staff, patient appts, buildings etc

If this had kept with inflation this should be £207

A real terms cut of £37 (£2.3bn)

Can’t see a GP blame the Govt & @NHSEngland

There is a growing, concerning movement undermining one of the most well established scientific theories there is: germ theory, the idea that germs—like viruses and bacteria—cause disease.

But it’s subtle.

Why is this story not in an American paper

Let’s tell more stories of how responsible governance can benefit more people and give them increased opportunities, instead of the supposed inevitably of the oligarchs having everything there is

Ages 0-4 are the most important, emotionally & intellectually, in human development.

Yet, in the US, we have a very high rate of childhood poverty and a broken child care system.

Congratulations to New Mexico for leading the way forward for high quality, free child care. Other states must follow.

This is like listening to my mum’s wartime stories. She, too was evacuated& brought home, then spent her war in London Dockland. Her dad was also an air raid warden. Great article from a lady who was there, and can evoke that experience to warn us about the dangers of drifting towards Farage& Reform

Just a GP!’ meaning ONLY a GP not a specialist

ONLY a generalist

But…
Can you consult the elderly, the child, the mother, deal with moans, bones & groans
Switch between a death & the gift of life
Hold the tension of end & grief
Know old & young

ONLY a GP is underestimated

The reason I bang on about the NHS is that I have worked in it for 40 years

Over half it’s existence

I remember a time, not that long ago when the majority of things worked well

Something happened in 2010 that changed that

I am fighting for a collective memory & fight for a better future
