if you generate or uncritically repost faux-Ghibli AI slop Miyazaki should be allowed to beat you to death with a meat tenderizer.
On the other site, Studio Ghibli-style AI output is going viral and allow me to just say it is profoundly depressing to see that stuff being used to promote OpenAI's latest product. Miyazaki famously called AI-produced art "an insult to life itself"—and this in turn is an insult to him.

Approaching the 3 month mark in retail and I have:

- absolutely no energy for anything anymore

- a reduced appetite for life

- lost a lot of weight?

- grossly underestimated the importance of sleep

- lost all faith in humanity

- think there’s still hope for humanity

Anything that tries to discuss mental health in a frank, open, approachable way is demonetized, buried, and age-restricted. Advertisers don’t like it, so it gets squashed out of public view.

The utter *gall* to suppress potentially valuable resources while saying “you’re not alone” is stunning.

This is fucking trash. Why does everyone think they can tell stories better than people who have dedicated their lives to it? Why does Netflix want to make everything by committee? Stuff made this way isn’t art — it’s distraction. Art shouldn’t appease everyone. It should entertain AND challenge.
This is not allowing Creators to create. It's making them *generate* content.
This entire idea is bad.
People have no idea what they want & only a vague idea of logistics. Doing edits as a graphic designer was AWFUL. I can't even IMAGINE that process applied to film, or what abomination will result.

gAI MUST die, and it must happen NOW. And i dont mean this in a "ah lets just not use it" way, i mean in a "scrubbing the database, algorithms and the contaminated internet of the past 2 or so years" way. The longer data corruption happens online, the longer it'll take to fix.

there are no consumer-facing use cases for AI, and i fucking hate that it's being pushed as the next big thing. it's not a search engine, it's not a personal assistant, it's not helpful. it's a hole in the ground that we're all being asked to throw flaming piles of money into
"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search"

This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!!

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that.
The sprawling data centres that house AI servers churn out toxic electronic waste and are voracious consumers of electricity, which in most places is still produced from fossil fuels.

Meanwhile over on Facebook, a platform that has descended into utter insanity, here's a post about Superman: Legacy (name has been changed) that claims you catch watch the movie (you can't) with an AI description and AI-generated Henry Cavill post (who is not starring). Dead internet.

PSA: As Bluesky gains popularity, more trolls and bad actors will arrive.

The MOST effective way to deal with them and to help keep this space safe for your own mental health is to starve them of the only thing they crave: ATTENTION.

Don't interact. Block/report and move on. 🥳

Good for artists, ya, but everyone: poison random web images, memes, social uploads

A small % makes the web less safe to scrape. My 2022 mac laptop did the attachment in 3 min. Noticeable on a solid color image like this--learn to like it ;)
