For Pride, I’m remembering Lucy Hicks Anderson, trans woman who transitioned as a kid in the late 1800s. She was an incredible socialite and cook, so much so that when she was arrested and a banker got her out of jail because they had a party and she was the cook!

Remembering trans man Albert Cashier for Pride, Union soldier during the civil war, was captured, marched a thousand miles without them figuring out his assigned sex at birth, escaped, and went right back to fighting them.

Lived the rest of his life as a man.

Remembering Chevalière d'Éon for Pride. A transgender woman in the 1700s who was also a spy and who turned double agent, extorted an entire monarchy to get her gender marker changed, and lived her life as a woman in a time when such was thought impossible.

Remembering Dr. Alan Hart for Pride, trans man from the early 1900s. He revolutionized the detection of tuberculosis, saved thousands of lives, and died using his name, as the man he always was meant to be.

Remembering this trans man for Pride. Mexican Revolutionary Amelio Robles Ávila, who threatened to shoot anyone who misgendered him and said "he did not want to die without being known as a man,” lived his life as a man after transitioning. One of Zapata’s top commanders.

Now, Sylvia Rivera’s page reads that she fought for “gay and rights,” literally erasing the word transgender.

This Pride month, don’t forget about the trans and gnc activists who made this happen. People like Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P Johnson, whose leadership at Stonewall has now been stricken from all government websites by a Trump administration that wants us erased from history.

In my years of reporting on LGBTQ news this was by far the hardest.

But we are still here. You made it to Friday. You lived. Good job. That wasn’t easy.

Through a diversity of tactics, we will continue to live.

I would joke and say "Wow republicans in office sure do seem to care about groceries", but seriously this is just monstrous and heinous. It makes me hurt and angry beyond words.
