Perhaps giving a lot of men (& some women) high salaries, impunity, expensive & overly powerful weapons, & not much incentive or training or education to do a good job, hasn't been good for actual law enforcement in the US.
a very funny eye opening experience many people have had about how the cops actually operate is this "hey i have a tracking beacon on this stolen item that shows exactly where it is can you arrest the guy who stole it?" and the cops go like "lol no that sounds like a lot of work"
I spoke w/ a woman whose home was burgled after she evacuated. There's an Apple AirTag in one of the stolen bags, but police told her that due to the fires, they don't have resources to track it down. It's a whole new challenge for police (w/ @liborjany): www.latimes.com/california/s...
