If the UK leaves the ECHR, the real danger is that there'd be nothing left standing between us and neofeudalism. Nobody seems to be talking about that.

The problem with TESCREAL is that it just smears a bunch of conceptually resonant ideas together without necessary historical or anthropological context and paints the whole thing as a kind of conspiracy, which isn’t sound or helpful as a conceptual framework

Had a conversation with an engineering friend on this subject. Like Critical Theory, the toxicity and derangement over TESCREAL has made criticisms or analyses of Silicon Valley’s actual ideology more difficult.

Agree with Garrison here. It’s probably the case that, if humanity sticks around for millennia, we’re ~destined to build AGI eventually. But there’s no reason humanity is sure to build it ~as soon as we can, and those saying so are trying to create a self-fulling prophecy
The biggest irony of this argument is that, if it's true, why bother making it? I think many of the inevitabilists are trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. E/accs say acceleration is an inevitable consequence of thermodynamics, but they also are terrified of AI regs 🤔
