We had Dr Bonnie Henry and her team of MDs setting strategy against an airborne virus when we needed aerosol physicist, engineer and scientist. I still see so many vulnerable people trying to protect themselves with baggy blue masks instead of of respirators, and that is on DBH and the NDP.
COVID is a science/engineering/social threat whose burden is borne by the public. But "access journalism" consistently reports only the opinions and empty platitudes of politicians and public health docs, while subject matter experts and the people whose health is being eroded are routinely ignored.
It's critical for scientists to explain to media / the public that an MD is not a PhD.
👉Given the same undergrad, an MD is exactly as well trained to practice science in a given area as a PhD in that area is to practice medicine.👈
If EBM grabs control of science, it will be completely destroyed.
