Same reason I still have my PSP. My games will never get delisted, they're not trying to perpetually keep me engaged, not constantly harvesting telemetry data since the wifi doesn't work anymore, etc.

For comparison, every robotic mission NASA has ever sent in its history, from the dawn of the Space Age 65 years ago to today, from Mercury to Pluto and beyond, has cost less than $40B.

I know which one has done more for humankind and which one should be dismantled.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the ‘Metaverse’ has cost Meta more than $77B

The company now plans to cut spending on it and shift focus to AI wearables instead

That much money financing games by actual game developers would have financed 150+ of the highest budget AAA games, and the several orders of magnitude more jobs to produce them. Instead it was burned failing to produce advertiser-safe Second Life.

I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.

Fortnite going from one of the games with actual art from artists to using AI blows man.

i have never received a penny for the music i have on spotify (which wasn't even uploaded by me so i don't even have the ability to take it down). this is not a joke. i would rather happily let you download my shit directly from my harddrive on soulseek than you listen to it on spotify
If you can't justify the cost/inconvenience of buying the music you listen to, fr just pirate it. It's not any worse than Spotify.

People saying "kids will find a way around this" have no idea what "this" is. When it comes to YouTube, there's nothing for them to find a way around. The government is forcing all kids to have raw unfiltered access to YouTube. The only thing they're removing is parental controls.

Everyone under age 16 in Australia just got this notification from YouTube. Everyone under 16 will no longer be able to sign-in, block channels, disable ads, or browse anything other than the default algorithm moving forward. Brain dead decision-makers.

The original Let It Die was famous for its absolutely amazing soundtrack. Akira Yamaoka went and got in touch with a HUNDRED of his favourite indie bands and commissioned each to do a track named 'let it die'. The result was borderline mystical.

They're AI-generating the music here.

Fuck that.
The Let it Die sequel - Let it Die: Inferno - which is coming out next week (4th December), seems to have been built using a considerable amount of generative AI. https://bit.ly/4ol7lIA

It seems irresponsible to spend 5 paragraphs and a headline talking about the game without saying this is not developed by Grasshopper Manufacture.

akira yamaoka viewed his role in that game as a way to introduce hundreds of indie musicians to people in hopes that even just one would resonate with each player and let them find a new favorite. this is a disgusting and depressing repudiation of one of the few human and good things about the OG
Let It Die: Inferno what the hell, man?
