And now it’s time for Republicans to do what both parties have done in every prior shutdown: NEGOTIATE to re-open the government. Dems are standing by and their goal is simple: an extension of tax credits that will keep healthcare costs from skyrocketing.
We’re waking up in a different country this morning — a country using the tools of our (imperfect) democracy to fight back against authoritarianism.

Is anyone else 1) getting bombarded with MAGA texts? 2) frustrated that they don’t STOP?

This feels intrusive and illegal. (Or all regulations are now moot?)

Just got the health insurance costs for my employees for 2026. THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE! A 50% increase that will completely eat away at funds being used for books or other services.

That sums it up: uncovering fraud & waste is definitely not Trump’s priority
Parisa Salehi, a longtime government watchdog known for uncovering fraud and waste, was abruptly fired by Trump. The administration cited “changing priorities.” Her dismissal is the latest in a sweeping purge of inspectors general.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

This is crazy stuff.
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

The CDC Library plays an important role in providing our public health professionals with access to the best information.

Without them, CDC employees will lose access to information and resources in an outbreak.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

Trump: “They have signs, and they're all professionally made.”

Q: “Who's behind it?”

Trump: “You hear Soros. I don't know. We're going to find out if he's behind it…People are dying because of it. So it's really, it's death.”

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.
