I continue to really enjoy how EON cashed out of Bond with only a decade left before the copyright expired and also made sure to kill him off in their films.
Amazon will get...what, three films out of this deal at best before everyone will be allowed to make a Bond film/TV show.

James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Personally, I wasn't a fan of The Reality War, but this seems like an overreaction from the BBC.

Running Man - first two-thirds really entertaining, but it all kind of falls apart at the end.

Another bit I appreciated - they didn't really go down the "noble warriors with a code" route that a lot of extended media have around Predators. They have rules for sure but continue to be massive cheaters in fights when using cloaks etc.
Predator: Funlands more like. A mix of goofy "find the family you want not the one you have" messages combined with perhaps the most violent 12A I've ever seen.
You could almost see the action figures and playsets this would have if it came out in the 80s.

Old enough to remember being incredibly surprised to discover that Vice City was coming out so quickly after GTA 3.

Very sad news. Peter Watkins was one of our very best directors - Culloden, War Game, Punishment Park, Edvard Munch, La Commune...the list goes on. www.bfi.org.uk/features/pet...
Peter Watkins obituary: radical British filmmaker behind The War Game and Punishment Park
The maverick filmmaker and pioneer of the docudrama, whose anti-establishment works redefined political cinema and challenged the very language of mass media, has died aged 90.

Once you see Natasha Kaplinsky's name on the BBFC card and remind yourself for the goodness knows how many times that she's the BBFC President, then it's time to put phones away and settle down.

Some might argue that streaming movies at home has given us all etiquette amnesia. But when it comes to disrupting a screening, I think the rules have some nuance, writes Polly Hudson

Another enjoyable series of Slow Horses comes to an end. It's fraying a bit at the edges (quite a major event happens, and there seems to be no fallout from it other than a handful of mentions), but the performances keep things moving along nicely - the faces Lowden pulls always crack me up.

That's an incredible number, esp given that you can still see the budget restrictions in the show . How many times are scenes based in that UNIT set, for example?
I'm sorry, each ep of Doctor Who cost the equivalent of a decent debut feature budget?!?

Look, I get all the sensible reasons for doing this, but it won't have the same energy as it does watching it unfold overnight when you don't have a myriad of other things to do.
Massive change for next year's Holyrood election: there'll be no overnight count. Votes to be counted on the Friday instead.

I don't know if this is intentional or not but interesting to note that NOW/Sky Movies have Welcome to Derry and IT: Chapter 1 to stream but you can only buy IT: Chapter 2 on other services, which seems a bit silly given they host the Warner catalogue.

Thought House of Dynamite was decent, although as a ThreadsHead, it confused me why the attack happened in the daytime and not the middle of the night when defences would be most sluggish.

That's one way to give the ratings a boost on the big day.

Can't believe they made an IT story that starts out strong, becomes more complicated than it really neede to be with its mythology, before finally falling apart at the end.
"It: Welcome to Derry" is overflowing with major shortcomings, but none are quite as great as its central plot's sheer, unbridled asininity.

I'd have done this like the Steve Jobs film, but it's the first day of filming each of the main fights from Rocky to Rocky V.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. This is a show that, in its second iteration, is one of the longest running science fiction programmes ever made - perhaps only beaten by its first iteration. There's no shame in it being the end of the road for now.
The Piper regeneration is I think, in a crowded field, the single stupidest decision that has been made in Who. Either don‘t do the last minute edits and have the option of regenerating Gatwa offscreen, or just have his face glow and cut to credits.

Watched The Thing this evening and, as always, just love how sharp that script is. Everyone gets some business, and those 100 mins feel like a feast.
PS - the only satisfying answer to the ending is that, of course, neither of them is infected.

They should try to get a big budget standalone Doctor Who movie off the ground.
Tell me your most unhinged Doctor Who opinion. I mean, if you’re a fan, they’re likely all unhinged anyway.

Frankenstein - it's beautiful to look at but really lacking atmosphere. Fair play making a full-on gothic melodrama rather than a horror film. Shame the Creature is defanged from the novel, but I wasn't expecting Del Toro to do anything else.

Weirdly reassuring that 12 years on, digital deaging technology is still incapable of delivering a realistic looking young Jeff Bridges.
