Radio 2 is getting into a bad habit of cutting songs off far too early.

Don't know how many people have actually read the recent book about the making of The Shining but it's a fascinating read - at one point Kubrick toys with the idea of having Jack and Wendy take on some of the story beats from Traumnovelle (what would become Eyes Wide Shut).

I like the Ben Gardener jump scare, but those reshoots also leave you wondering why Hooper didn't just bring the bigger boat we saw him driving 10mins previously.
Big mug of tea, slice of homemade chocolate log, and Jaws on the telly. That'll do me just fine this evening.

It is very exciting that we are mere days away from the latest Cabinet Office papers released by the National Archive.

And Happy Christmas, I guess?

Thought The Room in the Tower was very enjoyable and felt like it leaned into The Woman in Black, to the point where I almost expected we were about to get a tribute to "that" scene.

Watching the Mr. Bean Christmas Special with the kids, and that stuff still works beautifully.

"Yeah, I like musicals"

The musical -
Victoria Wood’s authorised biography reveals that on Christmas Day she would make her friends and family watch Fanny Cradock Cooks for Christmas (available on iPlayer) and this, the best thing ever shown on ITV:

My hot take is this should happen, will generate huges amounts of publicity and ultimately benefit both movies.

But Dune will move as it doesn't have a trailer with a countdown clock.
Warner Bros is reportedly planning to stick with keeping ‘DUNE 3’ on the same release date as ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’

Both films release on December 18, 2026

Watched Spartacus eariler and pretty cruel of Kubrick to put John Gavin in front of the camera alongside Olivier and Laughton.

I suspect this would have had more impact if Evans hadn't been in the last Marvel movie anyone had bothered to go out and watch.
The first teaser for “Avengers: Doomsday” is out:

Charlie Chaplin making the Gold Rush in 1925 and his granddaughter being the star of Avatar in 2025 is a nice reflection of the Babylon montage.

Facebook is now mostly filled with local news headlines like "Popular Local Resteraunt Makes Announcement About It's Future" and its just them saying they'll be closed on Boxing Day.

Remember feeling a little sad that Redwall (children's first Game of Thrones) seemed to have faded from the shelves of book shops.
Just starting a running thread for “once famous figures now slipping into recondite knowledge now that they’ve died and society moves on” to come back to as and when I remember

Enjoying the costume design of the armour, which feels closer to something like Excalibur.

First two-thirds of Avatar: Fire and Ash were really compelling with a surprising amount of emotional depth. By the end of the second act, we have a setup for the finale, a new location, and what seemed like a clear narrative throughline for the characters... but it's all then pushed aside.

Gotta say, the Avatar effects team did a great job with the David Thewlis Na'vi. As soon as his face comes on screen, you know it's him.

Die Hard is a Christmas film because it's the only time of the year that my wife and I have the space to sit down and watch it.

One of the problems with 10 episode prestige TV is that you don't get many Christmas specials. Where's my Pluribus Holiday Special or A Very Derry Christmas?
