I've watched a lot of SciShow videos whereas I'm not so familiar with Carl Brown (Internet of Bugs) but I feel I can trust him a lot more than Hank Green when it comes to the tech behind AI™.

I'm disappointed to see educators like Hank Green & SciShow parroting industry hype.

"But everyone knows what I mean when I say "bike"!

While that may be true, when we talk about 'bikes' it's easy for many people to forget about those who need to use non-standard cycles such as trikes, recumbents and tandems.

Why the need for AI™ slop when the hand drawn sign already exists and synthesising a photo out of it just creates misinformation.
I have a note: Please don’t make AI slop versions of actual signs ppl made by hand.

If you are an advocate of truth, science, evidence and accuracy, you shouldn't be promoting a software program designed to generate aesthetically-plausible text with zero connection to truth beyond chance

How is this so hard for people to grasp

The ethics of lung dragon ownership. Dragon conservation. The complexities of the knight-dragon relationship in a post-slaying society. These hard-hitting topics will be briefly touched on as an excuse to show pictures of adorable dragons in my upcoming art book!

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs.

However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

What we found was one of the very worst examples of workplace abuse in the history of this industry. That may sound hyperbolic. I really don't think it is.

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia.

Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

A lot of memes are based on illustrations and comics that an artist made, but people remove all mention of the artist to make it seem as if the image sprang out of the ether, that it belongs to everyone. Especially in this day and age, it's important to assert when art is made by human hands.
This comic gets shared every year with the date changed. It is by Brazilian cartoonist Glauco Villas Boas (1957-2010).

I thought that the dissonance was strong with the 'gamers' who are complaining about Sweet Baby Inc. brigading indie titles that they'd never heard of or cared about, but apparently the whole movement was started by someone with... concerns over games they'd never played. What even is 'gaming'?
The wonderful Megan Farokhmanesh at Wired has an article about the Sweet Baby Inc situation over at Wired, which includes this cool tidbit www.wired.com/story/sweet-...
