According to an AI analysis of my posts on Another Site, I am "like a Swiss Army knife that's been left out in the Falklands' harsh weather - rusty, a bit dull, but still trying to be useful"
Not entirely unfair, but it's not just the Falklands weather that's harsh!

I will try to be useful here too

Not a 2009-style clean sweep, but it might as well as have been
In so far as left right politics apply in the #Falklands, it’s definitely a quite a shift to the right
I think a fair summary is that the new Assembly will be “business friendly” and fiscally conservative

For “photos”, substitute “candidates” and this is roughly how I picked my 5 votes for #FalklandsElection25
Internal monologue during the annual photo-sift.

1. I take too many photos.
2. I don't like any of them.
3. Maybe these ones are OK.
4. I have picked too many photos.
5. I don't like any of them.
6. Oh, I quite like that one.
7. No I don't.

Etc.

4 years ago I was live tweeting the Falklands general election count for FITV
Tonight, I’m at home tuned into the Falklands Radio coverage and I’ll live skeet that in my own name
Go to radio.co.fk to listen live if you want to hear it for yourself

The count is usually a social event as much as a political one, but (because reasons) I am at home listening to the coverage on Falklands Radio
They are currently playing Wind Of Change, which was requested - I don’t know it was a hope or a prediction!

#FalklandsElection25
I went along about 11.20 to vote and it took me about 25 minutes with about 20 people in front of me in the queue - I went before the people who went before lunch
The FITV reporter said that polling had been “swift”
(I always thought that the cliché used to be “brisk”)

A lot of my #FalklandsElection25 posts have been about process rather than policy - although, to be honest, 19 independents chasing 8 seats in two constituencies* means that personality counts more than policy

* More manageable than Guernsey’s 82 candidates chasing 38 seats in one constituency!

#FalklandsElection25
The final electoral registers for the Falklands will be published just before the General Election on 11 December, but here are the figures from this year’s canvas in March/April:
Camp - 257 voters and 3 seats
Stanley - 1518 voters and 5 seats

Colouring up a re-re-re-re-amended writ

What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Sorting letters and parcels by hand in a Royal Mail depot to be sent around the country to the point where I didn't need to think about it because my brain knew which pigeonhole or bin each postcode went into.
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

In my case, using plastic explosives to make shaped charges, to direct a blast in a certain direction.

I once chose a ravioli starter that turned out to be a raviolo
If I'm coming to your fancy Italian restaurant and I'm spending a lot of money on your very nice food and I order ravioli I sure as hell want more than four of them.

They should have thrown trifle, because the law would not have concerned itself with that
Four people have been arrested after custard and apple crumble were flung at a display case containing part of the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London.

I saw a post asking where people stood on the Sheringhan bus shelter… I’d have thought standing under it would be more sensible ;-)

But, seriously, why demolish it? It’s lovely
It's all kicking off in my home town of Sheringham over proposals to demolish this 'Streamline Moderne art-deco design' bus shelter from the 1950s ...

I’m calling Scotland’s World Cup now:

Embarrassing loss to Haiti
Nervy draw with Morocco
Plucky but ultimately futile win against Brazil

(I’ve seen movies from this franchise before!)

The new FIFA peace prize is almost as prestigious as the one created by the Balkan Foundation in the 1960s

The foundation was taken in hand after a scandal not confined to its peace prize but the early history of the prize was summarised in an aside in a book about the IOS scandal:
