As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Today’s No Kings protest could be the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

ICYMI yesterday:

I wrote about Ezra Klein, Ta-Nehisi Coates, the struggle to define the boundaries of what is acceptable in America – and why democratic citizens have an obligation to hold the line on what we consider beyond the pale.

Some thoughts from my new piece:

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents with Border Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 37 people in the raid.

Let's be clear - the #shutdown arrived on January 20th, it just hasn't been evenly distributed.

It was 255 days ago that the admin started planning to fire people, freezing unfilled positions, cancelling contracts and payments, clawing back funds, and locking people out of their workplaces.

Happy 71st Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.

Oh, wow, thanks so much @dansinker.com, for your post on the Galloping Ghost Arcade. So much gorgeous video game art, and it took me back to my obsession with the video game packaging and console art produced by Psygnosis/Roger Dean!

Accosted by a ruffian on my way home. What is this city coming to when you have teenagers roaming the streets and menacing the populace?!?

I like to buy yarn when I travel, particularly sock yarns, and especially if I can find something made by a local artist. That way I get a beautiful memento of a place I visited that I can think of while making the socks, and then get delightful reminders every time I pull them out of the drawer.
Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw
i don't mean to come off as rude but we cannot sustain ourselves on outrage and anger forever. i think it's even more important now to post about other things too. even if it gets less engagement. you never know who will find it cool and interesting.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Immigration is an affirmative good. My city and the country are better off, by an order of magnitude, for the presence of others who came from elsewhere to contribute and participate.

I see you. I welcome you. I stand with you.
