O-ish G in these parts after the supervillain took over the old place, talking college basketball and soccer mostly. CT raised, currently in VT. Tried to save democracy once, but that didn't go so well.

Good afternoon from Leede Arena, maybe the only D-1 arena where you have to go past a squash match to get out. Dartmouth and Middlebury going at it today.

Appalachian State 85, Dartmouth 77 final.

Ivy League as a whole has not looked very good this season.

Unless you're Yale, which is nearly 100 KenPom places better than anyone else.

Appalachian State 41, Dartmouth 37 half.

I guess if you're the Big Green and gave up a 22-3 run, you'll take being down 4 at the break.

Eight of Dartmouth's 10 field goals have been from behind the arc.

I'm pretty sure you literally can't take a charge anymore in college basketball, and I don't like it. @hoopvision68.bsky.social @kenpom.com

Game on from Hanover! Camera acting weird again, sadly. I'm not sure App State has a single fan here. Like zero.

Seeing another Sun Belt team today, which allows me to again present my favorite preseason poll of all-time. In the NIL era of mid-major land, we have no idea. Someone did vote App State first.

Mountaineers return exactly 1 player that saw major minutes from last season.

You are looking live at Leede Arena, where traditional rivals Dartmouth and Appalachian State will go at it this afternoon.

Was told this matchup was signed just a few weeks ago when others fell through, but it's a 1-point line on KenPom, so why not?

Democracy dies in rhetorical questions as subheads
"The net worth held by the top 0.1% of households in the U.S. reached $23.3 trillion in the second quarter this year--up from $10.7 trillion a decade earlier." From WSJ today in article on how the very wealthy live secret lives away from the masses. But are they paying their fair share of taxes?!

Minnesota beats Green Bay in OT. Let's never speak of it again.

Niko Medved going to be on the hot seat 4 games into his tenure.
There are 10 minutes left in this game and it’s 38-38 this is a slopfest of the highest order
I don’t mean to alarm anyone but Doug Gottlieb has a shot at a Big Ten win

9:43 p.m. ending for that BYU-UConn game for an alleged 7 p.m. time, and the game finished in regulation.

Ominous for the rest of the campaign, methinks. @norlander.bsky.social

Merrimack upsets a pretty good Boston University team by shooting 19-for-30 from behind the arc. D-2 transfer Ernest Shelton hit nine of them. @jmverlin.bsky.social

Yale holds off a feisty Stont Brook team to move to 3-0, nut their KenPom rating will not like it.

Virginia (?!?) has 61 points on 40 possessions at the half against Marshall.

Tony Bennett is on his way to the locker room to ask questions.

Bruuuutal, both short term and long term.

Also, somehow Costa Rica is going to somehow not qualify for the World Cup, which is crazy.

Mississippi Valley State in a battle with Utah Tech. Delta Devils last won a non-conference game that wasn't on their campus in 2014.

Currently on a 36-game non-conference losing streak in all (D-1) games and 1-77 since 2019, 3-124 since that game in 2014.

I had no idea what was going on, there were like 47 replay reviews, and random penalties, but Syracuse beat Liberty in a shootout in the NCAA field hockey tournament and that is good. 🍊
