🚲 In Iowa City, the Bike Library isn’t just lending bikes — it’s teaching people how to build and maintain them.

Workshops, community nights, skill sharing — it’s proof that mobility can be led by communities, not just systems.

East London's new cycle lanes are on the rise, a crucial step for promoting cycling. Innovative as Mosa’s parking and sharing solutions may be, their full potential hinges on these lanes. #CycleLondon #EcoTransport

In London's QEOP, a Lime bike has been submerged in the river for an extended period. It seems Lime isn't adequately monitoring and maintaining their fleet. #BikeShare #Sustainability

🚲 BBC reports: British Transport Police won't probe bike thefts if left outside a station for over 2 hours or worth less than £200. Campaigners say this “decriminalises bike theft.” Riders find CCTV cycle parks “useless,” with some quitting cycling. Would a 2-hour rule work where you live? #Cycling

If convenience is rooted in exploitation, can it be called "innovation"? Services like Lime and Deliveroo shift costs, like maintenance and wages, onto society, creating a "convenience illusion." These "tech innovations" externalize costs for profit, burdening society.

In many countries autumn means the end of cycling season. Not in the Netherlands.
This October I’ll share a real-time ride every Wednesday—five in total—showing everyday infrastructure as it is—sometimes dated, sometimes excellent, always rideable.

The first: Laren to Hilversum.
October Rides Month: Laren to Hilversum
Autumn has begun. In many countries, this means the end of the cycling season, with bicycles put into storage until spring. Not so in the Netherlands. To underline that, I am declaring this October Rides Month. This year’s October has five Wednesdays, and on each of them I’ll share a real-time ride. Nothing spectacular—just everyday cycling on the kind of infrastructure you can find all across the country.

People pick Lime because it’s “no-responsibility”—but expensive. The real lever? Safe, visible street parking so bikes aren’t liabilities. MOSA’s goal: community-led, fair pricing cycling sharing. Make cycling the easy choice. #micromobility #bikeparking
We hope you’ll never need this…

What would you do if your bike was stolen? It’s not something any of us want to think about, but being prepared can make all the difference.

What’s the one tip you’d pass on to another cyclist?

A few insights from Valencia💡
Valencia built a dense dock grid, priced it for daily life, and kept operations city-led—tidy streets, real mode shift.
Which part should our city copy first?

What do people in cities like Bogotá, NYC, Paris, Rosario, and hundreds more do on weekends?

Enjoy the presence of each other. Walk. Bike. Run. Skate. Chat.
City leaders everywhere, must understand that streets can have different uses, based on hour, day, season.

The Trekvaartbrug ("Tow Path Bridge") is a new cycling bridge over the Haarlemmertrekvaart canal in the Municipality of Teylingen. The elegant but understated structure creates a connection between Voorhout, Noordwijk and Noordwijkerhout, making it an important link in the regional cycling network.

Why do we need a lot more protected bike-lanes in cities? Because biking in protected #bikelanes poses just 1/10th the risk of biking on major streets with parking. Via @momentummag.bsky.social. Plus they mean a LOT more people choosing biking, which has all sorts of health and cost saving benefits.
