Honestly, I did NOT have "punching the air and going HELL YES to Chris Patten" on my bingo card today. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly!

"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

What do Jenrick, Farage, Goodwin, the Telegraph etc think will be the consequences of their actions? And what does Starmer think will be the consequence of his inaction?
I guess this is what we're going to have to get used to...

The tone from the top is always heard at the bottom.

As Honest Bob Jenrick tours the country repeating far-right conspiracy talking points about “two-tier sentencing”, here is the letter his own government sent to the Sentencing Council last year approving the very Guidelines he now claims are evidence of “two-tier Keir”.

On 15 March 1939 Hitler and his deputy summoned the Czech President to Hitler’s residence in Berlin and then bullied him to submitting to a German invasion of his country.
They drove him to the point of physical collapse, threatening him until he eventually signed his country’s death warrant.

Either Trump and Musk visit Fort Knox and say: Yup, our ridiculous conspiracy theory about the gold was bullshit. Or else, I CANNOT WAIT to see what happens to USD$ and US debt interest, if they come out and even HINT that the gold reserve is not fully there.

So, watch them cancel their inspection.

I hear Nigel Farage is declining interview requests. First time for everything, I suppose. I suspect he’ll eventually speak to whoever is least likely to challenge him properly.

Of all the daft 'opinions' that Brexiters could never explain or justify, opposition to a mooted European army was among the stupidest. Inevitably, Farage the Putin fanboy was the loudest heckler.
Armies that you are actually *in* rarely turn out to be opposed to your interests...
⚡️Zelensky calls for creation of 'army of Europe' amid US support uncertainty.

"Let's be clear: We cannot rule out the possibility that America may refuse to cooperate with Europe on issues that threaten it," Volodymyr Zelensky said at the Munich Security Conference.

Kemi Badenoch was born British in December 1980, as her parents came here for the birth & returned to Nigeria

Just before Margaret Thatcher abolished birthright citizenship in the 1981 British Nationality Act (from 1983)

Her new proposal is to wait 15 years for citizenship, not 6.

Badenoch saying it was a mistake not to have a growth plan for Brexit highlights that she doesn't understand what happened.

There was no growth plan that all parts of the Leave coalition could have agreed on.

Winning required implying different outcomes to different people.

The radicalisation of much of the right in Britain far exceeds that of the left under Corbyn. (I say that as a staunch critic of Corbyn).

It's essential that decent Conservatives speak out, if they don't want the likes of Cummings, Oakeshott and Jenrick to prostitute their tradition to an arsonist.
