Happy birthday to David Ortiz, who is 50.

Still can’t figure out why the Cardinals kept pitching to him in ‘13.

A Baseball Hall of Fame without Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds (not to mention Pete Rose) is a joke.
(I also think Dewey should get in but that's a different kind of argument.)

Dwight Evans denied, but Roger Clemens is one of eight on Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Baseball Players Era ballot - The Boston Globe
The Hall announced Monday that Clemens, Barry Bonds, Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Gary Sheffield, and the late Fernando Valenzuela were on the ballot.

Russia can no longer be a defendant in ECHR cases for violations after September 2022. But apparently can find ways to be an "applicant!"
Excellent investigation of Russian misuse of international investigatory & judicial machinery.
Proud to publish this piece from my former student, who writes that Russia's lawfare in the European Court of Human Rights is "transforming [it] into an unwitting accomplice in one of the most sophisticated disinformation operations of the modern era.”

If I were Sam Kennedy this morning, I'd be asking baseball operations to explain how Cam Schlittler was available in the seventh round of the '22 Draft, was recommended by the area scout and wasn't selected.

He played his college games a mile and half from Fenway Park.
