During the 1970s, an arson wave ravaged poor communities across the US. Some lost 80% of their housing. Residents were blamed.

In reality, landlords—paid by insurers and enabled by the state—drove this arson-for-profit epidemic.

International students are being hunted on their campuses. For raising their voices for justice. This is pure evil.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

A big contender for movie of the year, "I'm Still Here" tells the story of a family that was destroyed by the Brazilian military dictatorship. Here's a review with some important historical context by @vincentbevins.bsky.social:

one reason it's extremely bad that all these institutions (schools, nonprofits, companies) are rushing to comply with Trump by becoming more racist, homophobic, and bigoted is that once you embrace bigotry out of cowardice, you have a huge incentive to convince yourself that bigotry is righteous. 1

You're in luck, Sara. For decades now, people in Gaza have been saying they would like to move, voluntarily, to the places from which they--or their parents or grandparents--were expelled. I don't think they should be prevented from doing so either.

An Israeli shot two men in Miami Beach, thinking they were Palestinian.

If a Muslim shot two people in Miami because he thought they were Israelis it would be called terrorism and there would be wall-to-wall media coverage.

this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!

The next step in restoring meritocracy is to reject the theory that proportionate outcomes equal fairness.
