I’m not a great political analyst, but I do feel Labour have made a tactical error by opting to be cunts.

Again: our political and media class have frog-boiled themselves so intensely that this doesn’t even strike them as strange but to anyone outside the UK, it is clear that we are in about year seven of an insane McCarthyist rampage because our leaders have lost their legitimacy.
The authoritarian impulse, now completely out of control and rampaging. This is happening because our political and media class hate and fear the left, and do not want to take responsibility for the crimes they have enabled. They’ll resist it to the bitter end, too.

These people have bullshat themselves into such a tight corner that they cannot now do anything but crack down harder and nastier. It’s only going to get worse now, as they fight to fend off responsibility for their actions.
When Labour came to power last year it followed 14 years of Tory rule in which international monitors had issued stark warnings about the UK's "authoritarian turn" through crackdowns on political protest and migrants' rights. Starmer is continuing that project.

Definition of 'stochastic terrorism'...
like this is the most irresponsible level of hysteria i’ve ever seen. most of these people are either paid by the republican party, or are high level advisors and allies. this is insane

I wrote this earlier this year. It’s about the fault lines of family in a time of crisis and about drawing the line. I have cut ties to family for supporting this fascist regime. It hurts. But it needs doing. I don’t break bread with Nazis—or anyone who, by action or inaction, supports them.
The Letter
This is a letter I did not want to write. I had hoped that the angels of our better natures would win out, would convince people that loving and caring for the least of us is the right thing to do…

Today the order banning #PalestineAction as "terrorists" came into effect. But they are not terrorists. They are protesters trying to stop a genocide. This is a "first they came for ..." situation. Unless we stand in solidarity against this assault on our freedom, they will pick us off one by one.

I wrote this on the most consistently terrible, and fatal, idea in centrist politics today. On Fanta, rebadging, and why attempting to win votes from fascists is morally disgusting and politically suicidal.

Ordinarily, I'm not a fan of these cheap Hollywood reboots. I'll give it a pass in this case as long as we get a proper ending. If I recall correctly, one of them shoots himself in a bunker, and the other's corpse is strung up by his boots in a town square...

I fully expected Starmer (greyest PM since Spitting Image's John Major) and his band of idea-free, right wing zealots in @uklabour.bsky.social to be shit, and they, collectively, have not disappointed... (by being utterly disappointing) as @aiannucci.bsky.social might say: I am anticipointed in them

Let's be clear: the direction of travel of government (both sides of the Atlantic) over the last 45 or so years has been to find new and better ways to quietly sneak an increasing % of GDP into the pockets of the top 1%. We've told them, via our votes, they don't have to be quiet about it anymore...
