Can a gay, Native man get justice? When vanishingly few Native ppl were on TV (& none were gay) Jonathan Joss was an important cultural touch stone. (He played John Redcorn on King of the Hill.) Last week, the man who allegedly murdered him was indicted, but it's not...

Justices Gorsuch and Thomas, who never agree on anything concerning federal Indian law, agree that the federal government doesn't have plenary power over Native nations. This is a remarkable joint statement that should lead Justice Thomas to revisit a hell of a lot of things he has previously said

This. We’ve been trying to tell y’all this for years.
Hey. Native here 👋🏽

The President declaring war on city-citizens is not surprising in the slightest. It was always going to lead here.

America did this to Natives. We knew any country without honor, without law, without order, without truth, would eventually declare war on its own too.

It is true, their place in history is settled.

And Pete cannot rewrite it. Neither can any number of medals.

I don’t know what else to say.

This is why I’m glad I’ve deleted all my Meta accounts.
I was gonna post a screenshot of Meta’s examples of acceptable “sensual” dialogue with children, but I realized I’d have to type out alt text and that would probably get me added to some kind of list I really don’t wanna be on.

So you’ll have to click and read the blue shaded table yourself.
Meta’s AI rules have let bots hold ‘sensual’ chats with children
An internal Meta policy document reveals the social-media giant’s rules for chatbots, which have permitted provocative behavior on topics including sex and race.

🧵 It's not as lyrical as "At the far end of the Trail of Tears was a promise" but damn if I didn't smile when I read "because this is what Mvskoke law demands."

Today is an historic day. The Mvskoke Nation Supreme Court has ruled that the Nation must abide by the promises our ancestors made

Trump wants the Washington Football team to bring back their old name: R–skins, a dictionary-defined racial slur. Research shows racist mascots harm Native youth’s self-esteem & mental health. What the research also found is that it makes white feel better about being white. 🧵

The Exec brought up the idea of bringing back racist sports names because non-Natives have an idea that they have say on our identities. The answer should be "no" instead of endless rehashing of the same convos from 10 years ago, 20 years ago. Call Native Nations what they call themselves & move on.

This is bad, but like, the quote, "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it" exists, as does the Dakota 38.

Like the list is so long for the illegal war crimes of US presidents.

We can condemn trump's dumbassery and violence without pretending the past was golden.
This is the most consequentially illegal act a president has ever taken.

The literal least you could do. This is stolen land from Native people (Thanks Teddy Roosevelt). You have an OBLIGATION not only to stop its sale and destruction, but to return it to its faithful stewards before it is too late. And it almost is.

Please take responsibility. This is your home too.
I know everything is on fire but PLEASE contact your representatives about the selloff of public lands. It's a heartbreaking proposal that will destroy the soul of America.
Your favorite campgrounds, hiking trails, and forests could soon be up for auction
Republicans want to make 250 million acres of public lands eligible for sale to housing developers.
