Hugely annoying UI/UX work today:
Working on nameInput, and character selection (male/female appearance). Will probably wrap that up tomorrow. But these tasks are also the very final hard puzzle pieces that I gotta put in place, so it's fine.🥹
So very, very close now ...

Credits are a WRAP! 👀
They are also being displayed if you manage to beat the game, in a more "beautiful" kind of way. This here is the skimmed down WoT-version, that's available from the Main Menu (crawl speed has been doubled for the video):

This is, hands down, the most beautiful and inspiring video on the topic of (Solo) #gameDev I have ever seen!

Been following Tim until he disappeared from the scene, and now I couldn't be happier to learn that he's back. He really does provide the most humble, based #gameDev advice out there! 💙

Amazing!
How amazing is this? VGHF

- found a never-before-seen NES prototype
- obtained the rights
- finished the game using period-accurate tools
- is releasing it physically through iam8bit as a charity fundraiser.
We're partnering with @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social + @megacatstudios.bsky.social to release Xcavator 2025, a never before seen NES game from the legendary Chris Oberth.

100% of profits go to @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social!

Dream oriented programming.
It's amazing what kind of problems your brain is able to solve, while your body is out cold. You go to bed with an unsolved issue, and you wake up with the most elegant solution. 😴🤯🤓
We need a term for this:
• REM-Refactoring
• Pillow Patching
• Dormant Debugging

New demo build will drop as soon as this thing goes gold.🥇

We need to kill the worship of efficiency.

We have two news channels instead of hundreds of thousands of papers and outlets. More efficient? Absolutely. And it's terrible.

Doctor's offices that are all video? Very efficient. Super shitty.

Efficiency is the enemy. We're so scared of friction.

Buy a book.

Any book, it doesn't matter which. The one you've been looking forward to, the one with the title that made you laugh, the weighty award-winner you've been meaning to get to. Whatever.

Treat yourself. Step away from it all. In this time of gross ignorance & madness, read something.

I am jobless at the moment, taking some time to reflect about my place in this industry and refining my skills.

The good thing is that usually a new cycle starts with a new year.

Let's hope that is a great one.

Empathy driven development, I like it!
Write code to make being human easier. Rip code out if it makes being human harder. Write code to make caring for each other easier. Rip it out if it makes caring for each other harder.

Empathy driven development has literally never failed me. It’s done me better than everything else combined

A Beijing artist made this series -- and turned stick fights into a phenomenon. We're exploring why and how he did it:
