📌 Welcome Pinned Post 📌

I am Ricardo, a 45-year-old guy from Brazil, and I make #art for games.

My focus is on #pixelart, #drawing, #painting and light & shadows.

I am the lead art director of Chinatown Detective Agency and of The Diner At The End Of The Galaxy.

I hope you enjoy my journey here.

The winner takes all-instant hit-meme-flywheel mentality that has completely overtaken the games industry and even #indiedev is poison.

It deteriorates the space for risk and sustainable growth, until all that's left is to to either make slot-machines or slop-machines.

Here’s a very quick Timelapse of the key of Solomon. It felt like such a milestone for me returning to doing some card art for the folks at @leagueofgeeks.com, I got my first work in games with them (2013) doing card art, the sense of growth as an artist felt profound - plus this was in portrait lol

Ressentido cobra mais caro. 🫰
ainda vao pintar os artistas como ressentidos qndo essa bosta de IA generativa ir pros caralho e eles vierem atrás como se nada tivesse acontecido depois de cagar na nossa cabeça

No one uses AI as a placeholder to speed up a process.

It's an extra step, plus energy to compute.

It is counterintuitive.

It looks like the statement was made to disguise the use of AI in the content creation for the game itself, but they were caught.

Probably the studio used a lot of AI.

It’s Shigeru Miyamoto’s birthday today, so it’s a special #ScanlineSunday:

🕹️ Donkey Kong, Nintendo, 1982
🎮 Arcade PCB via supergun in 🟥🟩🟦
📺 Sony PVM-14L5

This was Miyamoto’s directorial debut, when he was 28. It ended up saving Nintendo of America and launching DK and Jumpman/Mario into stardom.

I am going to tell my kids that these are The Creature and Doctor Frankenstein in the @realgdt.bsky.social movie.

On the back are Mia Goth and the Blind Man.

Last night I felt brave.

I finished playing Outlast for the first time, in one seat, and didn't shit my pants.

I tried it a few times before (playing in the dark with headphones) but I was able to do just small sessions.

Last night I played it from the start without headphones.

Amazing game.

I remembered while playing the remake of RE4 that I killed 3 important chickens before they put their eggs.

Two were supposed to put golden eggs and one a regular egg that could be used to throw at something in a side quest.

No money, no achievement in the life of Leon KFC Employee of the Month.
The real horror of Resident Evil Village is when it asks you to kill innocent chickens.

But the thing is that we, the canaries, are resilient as fuck.

We eat coal and spit diamonds.
