This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

King County's youth movement may be discussed nationally...

In one of America's largest counties, two longtime 60-something politicians have been replaced by:

38-year-old Girmay Zahilay
43-year-old Katie Wilson

Hey Seattle City Council, here's a idea: What if (and stick with me here for moment) instead of spending the next four years working as hard as you can to make Mayor-Elect Katie Wilson fail, you work WITH her to try to do what's best for the people of Seattle. She's a reasonable person. Talk to her.

LEAD CHANGE: Katie Wilson is now ahead of Mayor Harrell by... 91 votes.

That's out of ≈270K!

Seattle counted roughly 39K ballots today, & they broke in favor of Wilson by 11.4%, erasing the entirety of the incumbent's lead.

Hey Dems running for office or reelection, you could do worse than starting an 'It's time to Chuck Schumer' campaign. You could fundraise off of #ChuckSchumer and give shirts away that say I Chucked Chuck. Shit like that. You don't need to hire consultants, I'll come up with more hater shit pro bono

The regime despises poor people, yes. And importantly it does not fear poor people as a political force. It's important to take both of these together to understand what they are doing with SNAP. They do not believe that they will incur lasting political costs for their current actions.

We have a finite amount of time on earth to be with our friends and loved ones and I can't imagine the pitch black soul one must have to find delight in spending even one moment of their lives like this. Such a waste of skin and bones, since there's clearly no heart or brain in that big bag of crap

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.

Year to date homicides down ~ 50% ~ from 2023

Homicide rate will still be quite high by state and national standards, but huge huge improvement.
Third consecutive OPD report listing zero homicides. Oakland is on track to have of its lowest homicide totals in a decades, with one of the lowest numbers of police in decades also. The how/why should be the number one focus of Public Safety Committee discussions and isn't.

And it shouldn’t be at all unusual to hear a campaign suggest that the quality of life in your city/state/country is something you should ascribe to the choices of people *more* powerful than you rather than the failings of people *less* powerful than you. But it felt unusual to me. (3/3)

There’s no reason ever again for any Democrat to suggest moderating on trans rights. There was never a moral reason but now there’s no political reason either.

Somebody tell Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg. it’s joe-ver.

Infuriating tho, to witness quisling news orgs that either did not challenge or outright validated the "mandate" hornswaddle.

And didn't get me started on those idiotic legal settlements.
in retrospect it’s incredibly funny to have watched republicans rule the country as if their very small victory in 2024 gave them a complete mandate for total power to do whatever extremist shit they wanted to do, and i hope they continue forward with that mindset

I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

Whether or not you support political violence won’t change where we’ve come to, nor where we’ve been for some time in this country. I am quite taken aback by how many people only invoke the term ‘political violence’ when it happens to a person with power. It’s political violence the other way too.
