Yep.
The Star Wars universe has more ramps and makes things more accessible for the droids than the real world does for disabled people.

Many non-disabled reporters do not find it important to talk to actually disabled/chronically ill people, just those around them. There's a clear difference often in stories written about disability by disabled people versus non-disabled people.
Now more than ever we need disabled reporters to cover these topics. Publications NEED to be bringing on disabled writers to cover the ever-shifting landscape

Oh hey, it's us!

Extremely grateful to Andrés for having me on to discuss all these critically important topics impacting us all right now, as well as how they relate to Star Wars and how we all experience the stories we love.

It’s Friday which means new episode! This week, I sit down with Greg of @resiliencesquadron.com to chat about all the intersections between the current gutting of social services and living with disability. Come for the analysis, stay for a #SkeletonCrew story!

Really hope @lydiakang.bsky.social extra enjoyed the 10th episode of Andor S2. 😀

Eagerly anticipating the final story arc of Andor tonight.

But really apprehensive to see how the reluctant hero we've followed will finally evolve from someone who will risk everything to save an injured heist accomplice to someone who will shoot a disabled person in the back for his cause.

It would be cool if people could hold off on spoiling Tales of the Underworld till most of us get a chance to watch it...

(This is also about Andor)

Really happy to see the "Duel" sequel coming in #StarWarsVisions S3, but also disappointed that it appears to be replacing the Star Wars Ronin novel's story.

Having the Japanese presentations subtitled on the screens at the center but not on the YouTube livestream renders it all doubly-inaccessible to non-Japanese speaking home viewers and is a pretty inexcusable oversight. It leaves us all reliant on YouTube's auto-generated and -translated craptions.

If you're non-disabled and are furious about recent ableist comments, one material thing you can do is ask disabled and chronically ill people in your life if they need help with anything. They may say no and respect that, but we live in an ableist society where asking for help is hard.

The 20th Anniversary Lucasfilm Animation poster shown at Star Wars Celebration…

This is all so amazing. From the Clone Wars where it all began, to Rebels, to even Resistance (awesome shoutout to that hidden little show!), and now to the Bad Batch as well…what a wonderful journey it’s all been.‬

Like explicitly a character with vocal aid is only available in audio format. It is valuable to hear his modulated voice, but it would also be really meaningful if deaf and hard-of-hearing fans could experience these stories too.

Yes, and in case you didn't mention it - especially disappointing when these Audible originals feature one of the first clearly identified disabled characters.

More High Republic is always a good thing. I REALLY need these to start getting scripts to read though. As someone partially deaf, I haven’t really been able to do any of the Star Wars audio dramas until the book version hits months later.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨

'THE HIGH REPUBLIC: HAUNTED STARLIGHT' by @georgemann.bsky.social is coming to Audible on March 6th!

Really looking forward to this.
"It’s a lot easier to have a character who is...privileged, wealthy, clearly well educated, and a woman dealing with anxiety medication...when you see a Han Solo type casually referencing [it]...that that puts us in a different place."

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.

They're gonna come for Medicaid, for the ADA, for IDEA, trying to take them down in whole or in part, doing so with laws but moreso with regulations or non-enforcement, and we're gonna need a lot of help.
