Indie game developer, animator, writer and creative person in general. I enjoy games, baking and long walks where I can let my mind drift.

I also made a small, one man indie game studio: Pixel Artery, where I'm aiming to produce some real gems one day.

I just don't understand how other countries can make universal Healthcare work but we can't.

We could but, we just don’t want to lift everyone up.

SEVEN DAYS LEFT FOR THE KICKSTARTER

Don't miss out on supporting the Bunlith Show! We are marching ever closer to the 'hire another animator' tier, which would be a great boon to the shows production!

SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

This is a legitimate scientific revolution in meteorology.

Also, to be clear, these models are not the AI LLMs that most people are familiar with. They are machine learning algorithms trained on observations (actually reanalysis).

Feels like this is probably the ideal year to stop even hate-watching and live-posting the game awards. I feel like we can exercise that amount of restraint and self-love, yeah?

The dumbest thing about the AI-dubbing fiasco might be that some CEO somewhere went "Finally, we can stop having to pay those greedy voice actors their outrageous costs!" and it's the same industry that gave us "Anime-movie gets record profits. Voice actors paid like $300 for the whole thing."

As someone who works in the tech industry--absolutely.

They are testing the waters. These are top-down orders. The ONLY way to stop it is a visceral negative reaction. Write articles. Post your rage. Email. Post. @. All those things.

Only you have the power to kill it.
Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Love to see the vocal outrage against Amazon using AI voiceover for multiple anime dubs in multiple languages

Let’s keep those angry vibes going for when your favorite videogame developers start using it k?
An article from Chinese news site GameLook has information on Hoyo’s new game Varsapura

Here’s a quote:

“the game team ultimately wants to create a humanistic sandbox… to generate dialogue with Al NPCs, but more importantly, to drive large language models to generate a network in the city.”

We all agree that these "dubs" suck.

But once again, that's not the core problem here. The quality will inevitably improve, though I personally doubt to the quality of a dub made by actual humans who care.

The problem is that these exist AT ALL. They're an offense to art, and always will be.
Welp, a second AI dub on Amazon has apparently been found, and it's a show that already had a perfectly normal (albeit non-union) dub: No Game No Life.

I hope some people make a study (false or otherwise) that's like: "Turns out people are so fed up with advertisements they actively make people buy a company's products *less*"

Just to watch the chaos of CEOs panicking like crazy.

I'm starting to feel kind of grumpy about how some indie and AA games copy so many of the practices that harm AAA. Like, dopamine loops and such can be compelling in a good way, but when we're implementing fomo shops, daily grinds, etc just like big companies... idk it feels wrong to me.

I'm still kind of just wondering why we even moved on from the PS4, to be honest.

Picturing a restaurant where the chef is just running around town stealing food from other restaurants to randomly put together on your plate hoping it will taste good.

Then when customers complain they go "This is cheap and easy to make, don't you get it? It's the future of cooking!"

Blender did two oopsies today while I was working. Discovered a bug with bone weights (that they've found and will fix) and also for some reason the mirror modifier just would not play nice. Pretty much had to force it to play nice. Lost some work, but not that much, fortunately.
