A teacher in Idaho has been told to remove posters reading "Everyone is welcome here" - specifically because it features different skin tones. As I wrote last week, this is a global political movement that has explicitly set the goal of eradicating the very concept of equality.

Sarah Inama said she was told by administrators that her signs “don’t allow people to express differing opinions.”

Just remember that testing the waters by going after an unsavory or unsympathetic person's civil rights is a tried and true authoritarian tactic.

Since Obama administration, at least, leftists/radicals repeatedly warned that Dems pouring cash into ICE and militarized police was not just evil in its own right, but laying the groundwork for open fascism.

We were dismissed, with various degrees of vitriol, for pointing this obvious fact out.

This is how it’s done folks. If your rep won’t hold a town hall because they know what they’re doing is unpopular, hold one for them and let everyone in your community know what they’re up to.
Congressman Jack Bergman’s constituents held a town hall tonight—because their cowardly congressman refused.
He’s happy to cash a taxpayer-funded paycheck but too scared to face the people he’s supposed to represent. Pathetic.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.

I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

NEW: A majority of voters (57%) think Trump’s FAA firings are making air travel less safe.

"NPC" betrays elitist mindset that allows for discarding anyone it's expedient to regard as inferior.

But as Gwen (& Jamelle, see shared) point out, it goes deeper: It lets the elitist regard them as SIMULATIONS OF PEOPLE.

Given creeping infestation of #TESCREAL & #EAcc that should be scary.
"NPC" as an insult has its roots in 4chan memes and suggests not only that some categories of people aren't really people, but that they are disposable in a moral sense.

It is not just an illiberal insult, it is a fascist insult with genocidally violent undertones.
i think the “NPC” insult is dehumanizing and illiberal and *rich* coming from a guy who thinks entirely in mindless dinner party cliches. in fact, all you need to know what he will think about anything is to know what parties he goes to.
