As a reminder we are still a patriarchal society and there is a gendered wage gap.
the “gold digging is normalized” take is….interesting because all our lives we’ve been told men are supposed to the providers. so i get confused when men get mad at women for asking them to prove they are the provider??

Having a crush doesn’t mean you want to / have to “shoot your shot”. Sometimes you can leave it as a crush. (And sometimes that’s for the best tbh. lol)

Only saying once on bsky b/c I know it is not entirely useful, but it is totally exhausting that in 2016 some of us said “they’re Nazis,” some of us screamed “they’re segregationists,” and a whole lot of very serious people now posting about them being Nazis and segregationists gaslight us for years

To instrumentalize what my sister is saying below: every time someone says DEI say “you mean civil rights?” Every time someone says they are against woke reply “oh so you’re a segregationist!” Words have meaning! Don’t allow that nonsense to stand.

It's why I don't have much left to say except "We warned you" because all of this was utterly predictable. They never hid it. White people just wanted to pretend that it wasn't happening to avoid confronting their racist friends and family.

If anyone knows of any extra-help, substitute librarian or library worker jobs (especially in the Bay Area) please kindly send them my way! (:

I’ve applied to a couple of places, but either haven’t heard back or they went with someone else.

Long live libraries! ✨💚📚

Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states:

“'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell."

Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.

TLDR: When Walmart comes to town, two things happen: 1) their low prices force mom and pop stores out of business, and 2) people eventually earn less because Walmart pays workers low wages.
"Walmart makes the places it operates in poorer than they would be if it had never shown up at all. Sometimes consumer prices are an incomplete, even misleading, signal of economic well-being."

Fascinating studies on the broader effects of Walmart:

The Walmart Effect
New research suggests that the company makes the communities it operates in poorer—even taking into account its famous low prices.
