My biggest concern about ‘AI’ has never been that it would replace fiction writers, but that it will create a tidal wave of slop writing that will drown real writers at the submissions stage and writers with no marketing budget on the release of their book. It’s the trashy environment it’ll create.
I am seriously concerned about what this will do to open submissions policies and the magazines embracing them. They are an important gateway to the field. The flood can be overwhelming. It's very much a volume problem. The works themselves are not good, but they take up space and time in the queues
