I try not to start discourse but I have seen some frustrating trends across many fandoms, so:
One of the main tenets of old fandom is ship and let ship. It's okay to not like ships, or to be squicked by them. It is on YOU to mute, block, and scroll past. It's not cool to be shitty on those posts.

imho fandom is best experienced as a group of mutuals you think are funny and any sort of clout chasing or trying to appeal to everyone is going to leave you tired and burned out

An underrated fandom experience is having a friend you can privately complain about your least favorite ships or headcanons with so you can have your petty bitch time without ever insulting or offending anyone in the fandom, and I think more people need to learn to do this

imo the multishipping ethos is not about being obligated to like more than one ship yourself but just being cool about entertaining multiple possibilities. it’s about not seeing different ships as inherently being in competition with each other.

Nonaggression pact is it exactly & it's always so tiring when people take it as a Mary Poppins-y "only think happy thoughts 🥰🌸" thing. "But you don't understand, I really DISLIKE -" no no, we also dislike stuff, we just learned you either have a live-and-let-live norm or you have constant civil war.
This is why years ago we all decided "Don't Like, Don't Read" and "Ship and Let Ship" Because we all know our ships are not to everyone's tastes, and some others are super squicky
