Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Reminder that any political party trying to make it harder to vote is sending a clear message: they can't win on their ideas alone.

Working on something simple as I wait to start PT to resolve my tendon issues. This cloud-like confection is the Louvre Sweater by Petite Knits, featuring Marianthi Sock yarn in Flicker with two strands of Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in Rainy Day. It is slow going, but progress is progress.🧶

I can’t believe I’m watching interviews of city mayors talking about how they are coordinating with other mayors to discuss how to protect their residents FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

I know we are “used to it” but it is absolutely insane

So excited to be working on this project; it has been in my queue for ages! 🧶

It is STILL the guns. What more has to happen for there to b a change in this country?? When will lawmakers reject dirty NRA $ and stand up for protecting us all?

The next Democratic president should declare that the National Emergencies Act and Article II of the Constitution allow him to:

•admit D.C. and Puerto Rico as states
•abolish ICE
•grant citizenship to any immigrant
•disband the 5th Circuit
•expand the Supreme Court

Seriously: Why the hell not?

For the record: Boston is a safe and clean city. My teenager and his friends often take the train in and bum around the city without adult supervision. We don't need the National Guard. We need the EPA, DOE, CDC, FDA, National Parks, and affordable healthcare (to name a few) more.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

I just ordered a new skein of Vermont Vice to finish the sleeve -- and the collar? What do you think about the collar? Yes or no?

The new skein is overk*ll; I'm being super picky about matching colors, which is what makes this work. 🧶

Last-minute Minna No Sweater for my oldest before she heads off to University. I had the idea to use up yarn that (shockingly) didn't have enough contrast for another project in this way, and my daughter claimed ownership before I cast on the first stitch. 🧶 #knitsky

Smoke from the Canadian fires is bad again today. Heading to Maine to escape. Oh - and see why lawns suck and native fields are better? Especially during a drought? I vow to continue to expand our native field (which gets mowed once a year by a local farmer for his livestock).

The sleeves are on, and their colorwork is complete. I so overthought this, but I am so happy with the results. Onward to work the body today! 🧶

🧶 and Knitsky friends: I'm knitting a sweater that will be used as a fundraiser for Ukraine. What do you think will work better for raising money: a silent auction or a raffle? There will be up to 1,000 people in attendance at an all-day outdoor festival where this will be available.
