Every once and a while, I get bummed and think about how big of an impact The Confluence would be making in Pittsburgh right now if it hadn't been canceled. The discussions with mayoral candidates outside of contentious debates, interviews with heads of museums whose funding is being cut, and more.

The work done in DPW was one of the greatest accomplishments that way too few people know about and the largest newspaper in the region won’t dare tell you about.

Delivering excellent city services must start with first delivering a safe workplace where staff want to stay because they feel valued.
Under the leadership of Mayor Gainey the city has made huge investments into the safety of city workers and residents. A pilot program in the department of public works saw a 59% decrease in workplace injuries and saved $10 million in the process.

“Pittsburgh’s Strip District is still evolving, just as it has for decades. The idea that it should remain frozen in time, untouched by improvements that make it safer and more functional, ignores the very spirit of adaptation that has always defined this neighborhood.”

We found the artist-made posters of the Syracuse Cultural Workers to be a simple jumping off point.

The solutions to many of our modern-day problems (and our strike demands) are often not flashy, super futuristic, or new in terms of process. To build community is inherently anti-capitalistic.
