People often stop me in the street (never happened) and ask: “What do people like on Bluesky?”

“Mountains and flowers,” comes my reply.

Mt. Fuji with a sprinkle of flowers for #stunday.

@checkbook.org Checkbook is a *treasure!*

It is, by far, the most helpful, consumer focused, and fair resource for finding and researching local businesses. They are a little nonprofit that's been doing this for decades.

Please subscribe, participate (questionnaires), and donate to support them!

I think it might be helpful for many of our psyches if there were a version of this series with @jvl.bsky.social listening to the podcast and commenting/screaming into the void with us.

One of my takeaways is that it is better electorally to be seen as authentic, even if terrible and unlikable rather than unauthentic.

Also, the double standard is strong for Teflon Don. He is not judged by the same measure as his political opponents.

A lot of performative “not gonna listen” in the replies. I will and I’m sure it’ll annoy the hell out of me. As always, respect your zen like ability to meet folks where they’re at.

I just discovered these. And wow, is it depressing to listen to. One thing I am wondering is, where do those people get their news? I am wondering whether this astounding level of reality distortion has anything to do with unreliable news sources.

Thanks for doing this, btw. It's good work.

I think you are doing incredible work, but focus group podcasts are so depressing to listen to. I think they expose how separated from the reality we live in they are, but I'm not sure they provide an answer on how to puncture that reality. Perhaps I can be convinced otherwise.

on the one hand I want you all to follow @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social so she’ll stay here and leave Twitter for good.

On the other hand this is the only time I’ve ever had more followers than her in any capacity and I want to savor this feeling because I know it’ll never happen again.

Bluesky doesn’t have to be bigger than Twitter to be successful. It just has to be inviting, engaging and big enough that people can find people and accounts they enjoy engaging with, and or following.

Then People tell accounts and friends on other platforms to come here. It’s a SOCIAL network

There is no point in trolling if no one sees it.

User control over our feeds is great. Including the ability to fully hide from everyone, unwanted replies, and block those people.

If i hide a reply from a troll from everyone, no one sees it.

Moderation is great

Really helps engagement
@bsky.app really does feel so positive and devoid of BS spam. Can someone smarter than me explain why this product is operating better? Is it better code? Better moderation? Or has it just not reached a point where the trolls have decided to invade?

It’s fun to be social on a social network again
You know, my daughter was watching Good Burger 2 the other day and we saw your uncharacteristically mean character in that movie, and I was like, "that's how I know this guy is a nice guy though - he cares enough about kids to do that."

So true.
I open my Bluesky feed and it is full of really cool people saying really smart things and being really passionate about really interesting stuff.

I like this version of social media, and the world.

Thanks, folks.
