Wtf are you thinking @georgewhitesides.bsky.social ?!
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

This whole thread 🎯
i think i would honestly find this whole discourse more tolerable if people simply said what they were actually saying, which is that they think the Democratic Party is too associated with femininity (and secondarily, with black people) and that they want to correct this

1,350-word feature about the appeal of Charlie Kirk's beliefs doesn't specify them or quote him
Since the horrific murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, U.S. media have eulogized him to the point of competitive saturation. The recent assassinations of Democratic Party lawmakers, the kill...

I want to see the RCA for this.
It has been brought to our attention that some sections of Article 1 are missing from the Constitution Annotated (constitution.congress.gov) website. We’ve learned that this is due to a coding error. We have been working to correct this and expect it to be resolved soon.

Absolutely true. This happened during the fires in Jan too. I am begging anyone following this story to watch local news (KTLA, KCAL, KCBS, KABC, KNBC, KTTV) instead of than national cable news stations.
The East Coast media reporting on Los Angeles is fucking hilarious. Literally no concept of how geographically huge the urban area is.

You should know that a big part of 18F's work was to make sure multi-million to multi-*hundreds*-of-millions dollar contracts at fed *and* state level didn't go to shitty enterprise IT consultancies that *repeatedly* delivered tech that didn't work, was late, or didn't even do what it needed to

If you interpret this as “ahead of where they currently are” instead of “ahead of everyone else” you can avoid embarrassingly sophistic arguments like this.
I heard a democratic senator say, “In America everyone should be able to get ahead.” Ahead of… whom? This makes no sense. It’s like saying every child should be above average. This claim presupposes inequality, is mathematically impossible, and is apparently a bedrock American ideal

This whole thread but especially this… if you are part of the national media but have no connection to LA, feel free to sit this one out. It’s your job, you may say. But no, you don’t need to have a take, or an angle, or a unique opinion on all this.

All the xenophobia, racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc, used to be wrapped up under the veil of Christianity, so it at least came with the good parts to balance it out. Of course, it was always a ruse. They now feel emboldened to drop the banner of Christianity, leaving only the worst parts.
Still wild to me how the conservative vision of masculinity isn't just toxic, it's *only* the toxic parts. Zero sense of duty, responsibility, stoicism, manning up, taking things on the chin, protecting the weak, etc, etc.

Just endless whining, entitlement, and abuse of others.
