We built #MachinaEmblematica as an outreach/engagement tool rather than for research. But as someone with zero knowledge of 16C emblem books (or Latin!) I find it an amazing way to poke around & discover odd new things—far richer than randomly browsing #IIIF images alone.

What strange hold do the manufacturers of storage lockers needing a one euro coin (returnable) have over museums? It seems such a waste of time for staff and visitors to deal with. Maybe there are stockpiles of such lockers we need to exhaust before they just provide ones using a key or number.
