Roasting marshmallows over a burning world. 🍉
This isn't just concession after concession with nothing to show for it, this taxation is also a domestic policy that Trump should have nothing to do with.

I'm struggling to see how Poilievre would have been worse than this lapdog. Isn't this exactly what people were trying to avoid with Carney?
July 1, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Goddamn Carney sucks so much more than I knew a neoliberal banker would.

Zionist Palestine... lol jfc
Carney says that we need to work toward a two-state solution, but that can only happen if the Palestinian state is a “Zionist” one — a wild thing to say.

The Israeli government can be rabidly genocidal and committing war crimes, but Palestinians are always held to a different standard.

It took me a couple years to deeply dislike Trudeau. It took Carney a few weeks. Goddamn.

it's been a weird few days here, and I've gotta say to my fellow non-conservatives, i think we could all stand to glorify our politicians a lot less and think about them as our employees a lot more

The liberal middle class white cheerleaders for Carney have all suddenly gone quiet. I don't blame them. Their class interests and capital are going to be protected, so back to brunch for them I guess. Elbows down.

Leftists... Never let them browbeat or trick you into "lesser evil" voting again.

Hot take: the best journalists are, in a way, activists.

If your journalism isn't guided by a desire to make the world kinder and fairer through access to factual information, you're simply a stenographer for the status quo.
I’m totally fine with being called a radical rogue professor. lol

But on a serious note, yes “activist” has been used to delegitimize people who are focused on equity, care and questioning systems.

I’ve dealt with the activist vs. journalist label my entire career.

It’s a control tactic.

All disabled people are deserving of life, love & care.

The narrative that “low functioning” people who don’t pay taxes, won’t serve in the military & can’t live independently are somehow expendable is deeply rooted in eugenics.

A person’s worth isn’t tied to their health or economic contribution

Trash like Trump and Poilievre are the Frankenstein monsters, but the banking/financial elite like Carney are the Dr. Frankensteins whose lab is the late-stage capitalist hell we live in and where these monsters grow out of. Be very aware that many of you are voting for this sick experiment to go on
April 18, 2025 at 3:47 PM
I've been "voting strategically" for 10 years to avoid the far right and in that time everything's gotten worse, the only reason we may avoid the far right is Trump, and we've gone from JT running as a progressive to a Reagan era conservative platform from Carney.

We can demand better than this.
Stop telling voters how they must vote to save democracy. Start telling candidates what they must do to earn votes.

Absolutely absurd and unacceptable for someone like Rachel to be cut off from opportunities due to the cowardice of media outlets buckling to legions of far right online trolls.
I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.

If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

Whenever RFK Jr tries to say that Covid didn’t kill healthy people, my heart breaks.

He’s wrong, but he’s also insinuating that those of us with underlying conditions are acceptable losses. We aren’t. Stop treating us that way.
At an event in W. Va. Friday, RFK Jr. "called on Americans to eat better and exercise" for "pandemic preparedness."

He said otherwise healthy people did not die from Covid-19, but @sherylnyt.bsky.social found that 30% who died were otherwise healthy.

Canada desperately needs to catch up with the rest of the world in realizing neoliberalism is dead and only opens the door for fascism. We cannot fight Trump's threat by replicating the conditions that made him. Canadians are being blinded by naivety and exceptionalism.
Canada sits at a hinge point of history, and we will need to reimagine the country to deal with our new reality, and it is bewildering that every party, and every leader, is pitching tax cuts. Our would-be leaders need to rise higher to meet the moment. www.thestar.com/politics/pol...
Bruce Arthur: Canada’s next leader needs a bold vision to reimagine the country itself — but no one is meeting the moment
We must reinvest in this country in a way we haven’t had to in generations, and we need leaders who truly grasp the magnitude of the task, Bruce Arthur writes.

No. Next election, after nothing gets better and people once again turn on the LPC, will be spent doing the exact same lesser evil crap against an even more monstrous piece of right-wing shit.

This cycle will go on until we either end up like the US anyway, or grow pair and demand better
I'm not sure Carney's Liberals can be considered 'left'. I suspect I will be working like a dog to defeat him next election. But first, I have to do my part to make sure there is a next election. Trump is an existential threat to our nation. We simply can not have a Poilievre gov't and survive

Canadians never use the parliamentary system to our advantage. Absolutely *split the vote* so a coalition is needed to beat the CPC. Use that to press for good policy. Common tactic in the EU. Messy but effective, and how we got the only progressive policy from the Trudeau era even with a weak NDP

Can someone more knowledgeable than me explain where the legal limit is for this sort of thing? I like to give a very wide berth, but this must be inching up on some kind of line.
