“Forget about the cost of eggs. It’s never been more expensive to drive a car”

Transit and bikes have allowed me to get to work when I didn't own a car

Now they save my household money by allowing us to only have one car

Providing options and choice in transportation is critical

Truly can't tell if the fact that every time I call my senators are "experiencing high call volumes" is a sign that everyone else in Illinois is equally pissed off, or my elected representatives are giving me the middle finger
Anyone have tips on best time of day to call congress and not get sent to voicemail/email?

The only thing the Dems are obstructing are my phone calls to their office badabing (I will see myself out)
Any way to call your senators and let them know the "current high call volume" is no excuse for not talking to constituents loll sob

I see people deactivating various social media accounts, which I understand & respect, but I’m done letting Bad Tech Bros™️ chase me out of my community spaces.

Maybe there are no more “good places.” Maybe there are only good people doing their best to navigate—& use for good—problematic spaces.

The white supremacist terrorist campaign that overthrew Reconstruction was called "redemption" by its partisans. So sure, in that sense this could be called a "redemption" story.
Speaker Mike Johnson says Trump’s release of thugs who beat up cops and smeared feces in the Capitol is a “redemption” story.
Johnson’s use of religious language to justify fascism is disgusting.

Over in the other place, the billionaire owner is threatening to fund ‘moderate’ (rightwing) candidates in heavily Democratic districts too.

This is what oligarchy looks like. It’s the biggest threat to democracy today. Not ‘cancel culture.’ Not trans kids. Not college protesters.

Oligarchy.

Best lesson my mother ever taught me is that you will always be happy if you try to get something secondhand first! If it can’t be found or is inadequate then try something new, but insofar as I “like” shopping, it’s because of a good enough bias
A few years back i stopped obsessing over buying the "best" and really honed in on "good enough" and it's been transformative in a good way.

I spend less time obsessing over purchases, and I like what I buy more.

AOC comes out swinging against a Nancy Mace for targeting Sarah McBride.

"They're doing this so that Nancy Mace can ... fundraise off an email. They're not doing this to protect people. They're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It's gross."

Genuinely the only reason I don’t yell at the people leaf-blowing is they’re usually employees doing it bc they were told to. It’s the dumbest thing ever invented.
Leaf blowers are my enemy. Loud, ecologically disastrous, wasteful, sanitizing monsters. We already have a leaf blower, and it’s the wind. And she is beautiful. You want to mimic the wind? You want to tell her how to do her job?? You prick.

If you give a shit about urban planning and transit you should expect no funding from the feds for the next 4 years and you should entirely focus your advocacy on state & local politicians.

You should also try to build community as best as you can to save people from rightwing media
