I make science exhibits. I wrangle two small children. I sing.
Is there anyone following me who is likely to be both keen to do more singing and available in Cambridge on a Monday night? If you fancy trying singing Winter Wonderland in our ladies chorus, this is happening in November (see flyer/alt text for whens and wheres)

One for @girlinthe.bsky.social this week..
My old Dobermann would only believe the clocks had changed when Radio 4 played the chimes at 6pm. He'd look puzzled for a moment, then nod to himself... Happy in March, not so pleased in October.
I never did manage to get him to London to see the real thing.

Since I don't know for sure that @girlinthe.bsky.social has seen this, it is necessary to repost. I think @wobblygoose.bsky.social would also appreciate it.

This, from the Quakers, is a pretty good example of how to resist pressure from bigot lobbying groups. Effectively “we legally can allow trans people to use the loo, we morally should, and we tried it and nothing bad happened”

It's possible that dubbinning my sandals and @sciansell's boots last night and then leaving them in the conservatory to dry was an error. We forgot to shut the outside door, and when we came to look this morning only half each pair was in inside. The others were in the garden, I'm blaming the fox..

Sometimes, we go on family outings. Sometimes @sciansell.bsky.social goes on exhibit maintenance trips. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
In related news, the kids are having an awesome time at The Lookout in Bracknell Forest. Highly recommended. (Also has a really super play area).

Invoicing a client for quite a small amount of work. They want 'proof' of our bank account. The email says "must be scanned". Not living in 2005, we have all our banking online. I've sent them a pdf. Will it work? We shall see. What more will be achieved if they make me print and then scan it?

I guess now is a good time to make sure folks going to @big-stem-network.bsky.social BIG event know that you've got a week to dig out and pack any lasers you'd like testing.
An alarming number of (especially cheap..) laser pointers are Dangerously Not What They Say They Are. We can check yours!

I think it's likely @girlinthe.bsky.social has already seen this thread. But.. just in case.
At the back of your kitchen cupboard is something pickled or preserved in a jar that you were given for Christmas several years ago that you’ve never quite felt like eating.

Throw it out now.

@camcitco.bsky.social I'm struggling to work out which heading on the website to report this on..
Bike/pedestrian cut through from Newmarket Road to Peverel Road, past Christ the Redeemer Church, the footpath/bike path divider is broken in a couple of places and looks like going soon in another.

Me: Mammals.
7: I thought so, because they have brains like ours... Do you think any dolphins are autistic? Or have the other one.. with the H in it?
Me: ADHD?
7: Yeah, that..
Me: ..... I really don't know.. maybe..?

The plural of moose is moozoog.

Moose is a loan word from the Algonquian language family, which includes Anishinaabemowin, the language of my people and Norval Morrisseau, who painted these moozoog here.

Cake sale at the kids' school tomorrow. Very nice (non-British) dad at the school gate. "So, tomorrow morning we bring cake?" "Yes." "And tomorrow afternoon we buy it back again?" "Yep." "This is not even a Ponzi scheme, it is a mugging. But all the money is for the school?" "Yeah." "Oh, OK."
