Montreal, I see you.
City: We unanimously declare a climate emergency! We must make change no matter what the cost, humanity's survival depends on it!

Community: Can we put in a protected bike lane to get more people cycling.

City: No, we'll lose parking spots.

A “shared” road should not mean just this paint for bike infrastructure.
A sharrow is almost like saying to the drivers of motor vehicles, "hit the bicyclist".

Studies have shown them less safe for bicyclists than having no infrastructure at all!

Yesterday I was with my kid downtown and we were trying to figure out who was protesting. Was it Doctors? Tenants? Teachers? Daycare staff? Nurses? Religious people? Lawyers fighting this new unconstitutional constitution? Nope, unions. Who isn’t affected in their sweeping bills and laws? #assnat

My ten year old thought that the words to let it be were “when I find myself in times of trouble, culinary comes to me…” 💀💀

Did the STM rig google maps so the first choice in public transit always includes the REM even though the route’s longer and has more transfers and doubles the distance you need to walk?

My teen bought this from the Atwater library book sale today partly because she is interested but mostly because of the dates. #6767

So through some sleuthing it appears that Outremont’s recycling pickup hasn’t happened in 2 weeks. I don’t remember this happening post-election in the last 8 years but am i mistaken? #montreal311

Protect the things that bring you joy. But joy can hurt.
I love that the Boston cop slide never got fixed and now people just willingly go down it in tribute. It’s basically a national landmark at this point

Why are ICE agents being paid during the shutdown, but not air traffic controllers? 🤨

I send my kids insta reels that I think are funny. They never react. Last night one of them said that her friend said she was lucky that her mom sends her funny reels. She wished her mom did. So — I now have a new audience to my reel sending. Very excited for this opportunity.

Wade Grant won! Musqueam nation - hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaker (a Salish dialect, the Native language most of Metro Vancouver). The first Coast Salish person in parliament, AFAIK.
