At the Tron: Ares premiere, Disney partnered with the self-proclaimed MechaHitler to promote the picture...I'm sorry if this sounds mean of me, but this movie deserves to be burned to the ground because whatever Disney lost during the Jimmy Kimmel controversy, it's not enough.

there was also allowed to be a sense of camaraderie, optimism, and sincerely between characters where now a days everyone is all smarmy and snarky, characters are barely allowed to be friends, they all have to be distance from each other and any attempt at friendship is play off as a joke.
The 90s had a lot of missteps but the then-earnest belief in diversity and multiculturalism brought on by post-Cold War optimism was one of it better fruits
the wave of weaponized nostalgia for 90s-style multiculturalism and political correctness is gonna hit different

i like how Anthony points out how most anime breaks away from the hero's journey monomyth where most video essayists i've seen will criticize the hero's journey they barely talk about media that breaks away from that where with most anime it instead focuses on friend dynamics and community.
